The latest one is being invited to several "Town Halls" on zoom.

They are not held in a hall of any kind.

It is a fucking stupid and meaningless term - they should actually just say what the fucking meeting is for.

I hate all corporate speak. Let's be honest, most of the jobs in corporations these days are actually pointless and these things have to be invented to justify people having a job.

Sciurus83 · 24/02/2021 13:23

Ugh yeh started that shite at our work. And no one explained WTF it was as if we all should be up on this latest bullshittery. Bore off.

unmarkedbythat · 24/02/2021 13:23

It's nice that people seem to have stopped going on about silos, but they always end up with some new wanky buzz phrase, don't they?

LemonadeBudget · 24/02/2021 13:25

We've had 'Town Halls' for a few years now. Pre Covid, they always took place in one of the large meeting rooms, so fuck knows what that's all about.

SnowyBranches · 24/02/2021 13:26

I have actually hosted a “town hall meeting” and I still haven’t a clue what it is.

ssd · 24/02/2021 13:29

Oh we have this, I wonder if we all work for the same company

RedcurrantPuff · 24/02/2021 13:30

YANBU I hate all this shit.

Userg1234 · 24/02/2021 14:24

When I had a proper job, we had a manager who talked corporate shite and his own made up shite....we played bs bingo in meetings.

Amen to that.

I’ve had “town hall” meetings at a couple of companies.
Pre covid it seemed to be code for “there won’t be a seat for everyone, please come and stand and listen to us talk for 45 mins.”

Ah yes, we have 'town halls' too Wink
ShinyMe · 24/02/2021 19:39

Town Hall meetings are named after what American politicians do for debates.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Town_hall_meeting

It's just the name of a meeting format where someone senior meets with a large group of people who are their constituents or voters or workers, to share information and to allow the people below to ask questions.

peak2021 · 24/02/2021 19:48

Surely if they are on Zoom they should be called Parish Council meetings, especially if no-one has any authority!!
