Salmond v Sturgeon OH told me to shut up I know nothing!!

OH thinks I need educating before I comment to him about this. I said so did 6 women lie on the stand. He said Sturgeon and her partner lied so Salmond is innocent, he was found innocent. Basically was told to shut up until I knew more.

So please someone educate me. Am I being unreasonable to question this media storm.

I think the evidence went a bit further /was a bit more damning than my summary maybe suggests. The impression I get is that this particular incident didn't just not meet the burden of proof but was pretty actively disbelieved in court as there was evidence against, rather than just insufficient evidence for IYSWIM. There were additional issues regarding text messages too.

I can't imagine he would be the easiest to pin down.

This. There is a world of difference between being found innocent and being found not guilty. Not guilty just means they can’t prove it beyond reasonable doubt. It doesn’t mean he didn’t do it.

It can also mean that the prosecution has proved that an incident happened beyond reasonable doubt, but the jury does not think it constitutes criminal behaviour. The jury may, for example, have been convinced that Salmond hugged a woman in a public place (which was, I believe, one of the accusations) but decided that this was not criminal behaviour.

The current shenanigans aren’t about Salmond and the women though. Sexual offences are notoriously hard to prosecute in scotland because of the need for corroboration. The court has said that he’s not guilty and we need to respect that decision.

I find Salmond quite creepy, but he was acquitted.

However the way the case ended up coming to trail did indicate an internal battle between Sturgeon and Salmond, which is not really a good reason for bringing some one to trial.

I misread this as salmon vs sturgeon and thought it was a debate over what fish was nicer...

This is very true - the current issue isn't whether he's guilty or not, it's about how the government mishandled and then potentially covered it up, and to what extent Sturgeon knew and lied.

There is also an allegation of conspiracy regarding the origin/facts of the actual complaints but that's not really what the committee is about. His guilt or innocence is almost tangential.

If my DH told me to “shut up” until I had educated myself, he would be a soon-to-be ex-DH who had just learned, to his great surprise, that I actually have a first-class honours degree in self respect!

Just watched Sturgeon on Sky news answering questions. She looked like a grade A liar. Dismissing and laughing off accusations. More like a third world dictator rather than the leader of a modern democracy with all her sycophants applauding in the background.

Salmond is a cunt (which is what I would have called your partner if he had spoken to me like that btw op). He is a known predator and was happy to sell bits of scotland to Trump, despite a lot of opposition. I have no idea if Sturgeon is lying, I truly hope not because if she is there will be no UK politicians left that I have any respect for.
