... to expect to get refunds online?

I've just had a Tesco delivery. Everything was fine except the organic tomatoes with a BBE of 26th (Friday). They're covered in furry mould.

In this situation, ASDA let you request a refund online & it goes through quickly. But Tesco apparently require me to take these ready-rotted tomatoes back to a Tesco store, in the middle of a pandemic, when I'm vulnerable.

Have they really not changed their policy to reflect a year-long medical emergency?

The driver can refund if he’s still there when you notice or you call up and get a refund. If they have told you to go in store phone them again.

Blackdog19 · 22/02/2021 20:46

Just phone up for a refund.

FlyingFlamingo · 22/02/2021 20:50

I have never had to do this, if you phone them they will refund you.

LubaLuca · 22/02/2021 20:52

You don't need to go to the shop. Give customer services a ring, they'll issue a refund.

Whatnow321 · 22/02/2021 20:54

You don’t need to return in store. You can phone for a refund or contact them by email. I normally call but was delivered out of date cheese last week and just dropped them an email and was refunded.

Brogues · 22/02/2021 20:54

Just last week I gave my driver some ham back that looked a bit weird and he beeped it to initiate a refund.

FredaFox · 22/02/2021 20:55

Either return to the driver at the time if delivery or call them and they refund over the phone no problem

Happycat1212 · 22/02/2021 20:55

You just call them

Socksey · 22/02/2021 20:56

Just phone.... or even message on FB.... take a photo of the tomatoes in their packaging with the best by date etc visible... they are usually really good about refunding anything nit quite right.... one week much of my meat and veg was short dated and I commented on their messaging and it was refunded.... I didn't even ask... just expressed my surprise that so many things were short dated in what was clearly a week+ shopping.... yes I frozen the stuff and didn't have to bring it back

JustHereWithPopcorn · 22/02/2021 20:57

You don't need to go to the shop, you phone them or email them. When this has happened to me they refund pretty much straight away.

OK, many thanks. I've found a phone number but no email, & my order says 'no reply' in the address.

I just email them for any issues and they usually refund within a day or 2

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 22/02/2021 22:33

Tesco are really good if you send them a fb message with your name and address. They refund very quickly with no fuss.

MissMarpleDarling · 22/02/2021 23:14

No they don't they will just refund you if you call the number on the paper they hand you when they deliver your food. I've done this loads of times when things have short dates or packets have been open or eggs broken. They say sorry and refund me straight away (been getting tesco delivery for years)

MissMarpleDarling · 22/02/2021 23:15

Did you just assume you had to go in store without actually calling them OP.....

Happycat1212 · 22/02/2021 23:24

Of course the op did, Tesco’s has never asked me to return any product they just refund you! Crazy thinking you had to bring them back 🤣

No, I checked online & everything I found said to tell the driver, or if it was too late, to take it to a store. Nothing I found said anything different, & there was no info in the order email.

I had a feeling MN would know the answer, so here we are.

I refer the right honourable cat to the answer I gave some moments ago.

Tell Tesco they're crazy - they said it!
