To change dressing over DCs stitches already? Any nurses here?

Morning.

Sorry wanted this somewhere high traffic.

Not sure what's the better/safer move here.

Yesterday DD age 8 split her forehead open at her eyebrow.

Took her to A&E as it was pretty deep. They glued and steri stripped it. Then put a dressing on top (and gave me extra dressing for it)

It continued to bleed once home/overnight so I can see it's quite blood soaked on the dressing.

What's better for the healing? To leave that dressing on or take it off and put on clean?

I'm a nurse. Do
Not remove steristrips but change the top dressing with clean off any dried blood

Amazing thanks. Absolutely won't touch the steri strips at all. X

Just felt like clean and dry on top would be the best bet.

Dr sent us home with Mepilex and Mefix which I think is what she used over it already. X

Ditto. A&E nurse. Change the dressing gently to not disturb the steristips. Just wipe away any dried blood but don't get the strips wet.
