Family photos

I am an enthusiastic photographer and have been told that I take really good pictures.

Twice in the past few years I have taken photos of the family and members of OH’s family have asked me to send them to them. I’m always happy to do that. Thereafter the relatives have had the images printed or framed and given them to each other. This has always left me slightly irritated but I’ve never mentioned it.

Now my OH’s brother has asked me to send three photos to him so he can have them printed and give them to my OH. WIBU to say no? I’d rather give the gift myself.

Simply say you have now opted to keep family photos thank you very much. I think that is fine.

That is super cheeky of him.

Just tell him your dh already has them?

I can understand people printing and framing nice photos for each other. The frame makes it a gift.
But surely your OHs brother would understand that any photos OH wanted he could have by the dozen.
Just say he already has them.

YABU not to share nice photos you’ve taken with the rest of the family. We do this as a matter of course via the family WhatsApp group and people can do with them what they like, why would that bother you?

FrankButchersDickieBow · 22/02/2021 00:43

Do you want to start charging them?

Lifeaintalwaysempty · 22/02/2021 01:04

Printing and framing photos is a hassle and something many people can’t be arsed with so it’s a nice/thoughtful gift, even if it’s a photo you already have the digital original of, IMO. Let them do it as a gift, they had the idea and you surely can think of something else.

Are you annoyed that your photos are being passed around without financial credit for your work? If so then you need to start charging for your photographs.
Other than that I'm struggling to see the AIBU in this...
