I went to a local country park with the kids and dog nearly 2 weeks ago now and met my mum there (she's in my bubble).
Mum bought both of us parking tickets while I got the kids ready to set off. She bought 1 hours worth of parking and it was those machines that you put your car reg into.
So we set off, and had a lovely walk, however, when we got back to the car we realised we'd been 2 hours, so had overstayed our ticket!
We drove off thinking we'd been lucky, but that we'd know for next time to get longer parking.
Fast forward a week and mum rings to say she has received a fine through the post (with photos and times of her car entering and leaving) for overstaying her ticket time, £100 but £25 if you pay within 2 weeks of the date on the letter, and to look out for one! We were in the wrong, so I'm not trying to get out of it but we're now a week after the date on the letter and I still haven't received a fine, and I'm not sure what to do!
I've tried putting my car reg into the parking fine page, with reference numbers within 20 either side of my mums one (eg. If 515707 was her ref number, I tried 515708, 515709 etc. And the other way).
So I'm worried now that I have been issued one and that it just hasn't reached me for some reason.

So here's my AIBU?
YABU - ignore it, forget about it and count yourself lucky that you haven't been caught.

YANBU - contact the parking fine company on Monday and ask if a fine as been issued for my vehicle, because I don't want to have to pay £100 instead of £25 for the post being shit.

Appreciate your time and comments!

Sorry, I'm confused... you say at the end you haven't been caught? But surely you have because you've received a fine?

I don't think you can ignore it. You're logged now as having to pay a fine.

Sorry, just to clarify, my mum was caught in her car with photos and has had a letter.
I haven't had a fine for my car.

We were in 2 separate cars.

I think if you receive it late then you can appeal it and they will be considerate seeing that post is slow at the moment.

Ah okay, that's reassuring. So if I just leave it alone, and get it after the 2 weeks, just contact them and explain it had just arrived?

If I do get one, I'm not contesting paying it, I just don't want to pay £100 if I could have paid £25. But equally I don't want to contact them and prompt them to give me one, if they weren't going to 🤔

I wouldn’t just wait. I did this once with the dartford crossing and it turned out the fine had gone to my old address (is your V5 address up to date? Mine wasn’t 🤦‍♀️) and it ended up costing me nearly £500 by the time they got in contact with me

This is what I'm worried about. I can kind of write off a £25 mistake, but one that costs me £100 would really piss me off. My v5c is definitely up to date, as I'd bought my current car off a relative this time last year and with the madness of lockdown forgot to transfer it, so although I did it late, I definitely did it around October time and have the new v5c. So at least I know that it wouldn't be my error. I might email the company tomorrow 🤔 the phone number on their site is an automated payment line, so I guess that's the only way I can speak to someone.
