Potentially lost parcel - paranoia??

Yesterday I posted my iPhone for repair. It’s under warranty, my network provider provided a box with a “special delivery by 1pm” Royal Mail label to get it to their returns centre.

Anyway, it should have been delivered today at 1pm but guess what? There isn’t any further tracking information since I took it to the post office. Am I being paranoid to think someone’s nicked my phone? It’s faulty but the faulty is minor and the device is in perfect condition and unlocked completely as I was told to turn find my iPhone off/wipe my data

Do you have your receipt from the post office as proof that you posted it? If you do, then I wouldn’t worry.

MadeOfStarStuff · 18/02/2021 19:03

I don’t think guaranteed delivery is really guaranteed at the moment, so I’d give it another day or so before assuming the worst

Jackie2022 · 18/02/2021 19:03

@lovingllamaa I do, thank you. However I don’t think it was insured appropriately! Apparently £500 is the max compensation according to the post office cashier, but it’s worth more than that and my network provider should have insured it appropriately. Have a feeling this is the start of a lot of faff

A second-hand faulty iPhone can’t be worth much more than £500?

Jackie2022 · 18/02/2021 19:11

@MadeOfStarStuff RM website states special delivery by 1pm is at 4pm instead with the pandemic, but it should still arrive on the same date. I hope you’re right thoughSad

@XelaM ahhh that’s made me feel better actually. I didn’t look up the current retail value. I doubt my network provider has the same device in stock though

I had this the week after Christmas with some expensive jewellery with sentimental value.
I got worried as it should have arrived on the Friday but there was no updates and it arrived randomly on the Sunday!

Sparklesocks · 18/02/2021 19:15

The post is still quite iffy in parts of the country with postal staff being unwell with covid, or self isolating. It might just be a slight delay.

lovingllamaa · 18/02/2021 19:17

I would think the company would replace your phone and claim the insurance themselves for the sake of what will be minimal money for them and customer service. Might take a while though.

Jackie2022 · 18/02/2021 19:27

Thanks all.

Hoping it will resurface as I am quite fond of it! It’s a gold iPhone XS, no idea what they would deem a suitable replacement if it comes to it, as they don’t sell it any more.
