Totally impossible everyone knows no-one had an Au Pair before we joined the EU - it was only legalised under EU law Grin

HOkieCOkie · 17/02/2021 17:27

Yeah because a lot of Australian and Kiwi au pairs come to work here as au pairs.

FreeButtonBee · 17/02/2021 17:28

I think they have to earn the money amount for immigration purposes. So paying £120 a week won’t cut it anymore. There was an article in the FT about it

That really sucks. No European au pair then.

The horror you might have to get a UK person.

DynamoKev · 18/02/2021 08:44

Or someone from Ireland or New Zealand - how terrible.

Hello,

how are you? I saw your post about wanting an aupair. Im in London working as an aupair since December, but I am looking for new host family since June till the end of August or September.

Let me know if you are still interested.

Kind regards,
Ronie

I've never engaged an au pair but from a languages and culture point of view a UK person can't provide the same.
OnlyFoolsnMothers · 09/05/2021 19:21

Our au pairs growing up were from all over- a few Australian- I assumed people went down the foreign route because cheaper, naff all to do with culture

Are you still looking for a family?
HandfulofDust · 06/06/2021 19:51

You won't get an au pair from the UK. There just aren't people wanting to do it. People coming from Europe were willing to put up with rubbish pay to practise their English.

HandfulofDust · 06/06/2021 19:51

There are small numbers from Ireland, or Oz but not nearly enough to cover the demand.
