Is this microwave scorched beyond cleaning?

Hi all, sorry for this humdrum query but would be good to get your opinions on whether these scorch marks can be cleaned/fixed or is it time for a new microwave? Hate adding to landfill for something we use rarely.

It’s just one scorch mark, not plural.

That's not normal wear and tear. That looks like it's a fire hazard, a major flash of heat is the only thing that could have caused that mark, and I really don't think you should use it.

I'd get rid of it to be honest.

Thanks all. Some websites are saying you can paint over it with microwave friendly paint but that seems like it would be asking for trouble!
