What should I wear...?

I am a 14/16, about 5ft 4/5. I carry my weight round my tummy/bum, top of legs area so I always buy tops that cover my bum, or at least go down to it, but that make me feel short. fat and dumpy. What should I wear? For work I have to wear smart clothes, so trousers and a blouse, but i find it hard to buy tops that are smart and that cover everything. Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

Have you tried midi length dresses?

Nyala · 13/02/2021 19:01

Skater style dresses / skirts are really flattering for that kind of shape 😊

Seconding skater style dresses here. However, who are you covering your bum for? Would you feel more comfortable in a long vest top and a drapey top as a second layer, then a jacket or cardigan? Your comfort is more important than what any other person might think of what you look like 💜💜

Wrap dresses, tunic type tops, cardigans are your friend.

I feel more comfortable covering up, I've put about 2 stone on since the first lock down and I feel so fat and frumpy so thought if I dress better might make me feel better.

I’m similar to you, chipping away at the lockdown damage. I wear long skirts with t shirts tucked in, belts to show my waist which is smaller. Skater skirts, perplum tops with linen ankle grazer trousers with flats. Long dress with belts and biker boots/DMs etc. I also don’t give a fuck I’m there to work not catwalk.

Oh, I don't dress to impress (or try too anyway) I do dress for comfort, but I feel like I wear the same stuff so just wanted to get some new stuff to cheer me up a bit

New clothes in the correct size will make you feel better about yourself. It’s horrible having old clothes hanging in your wardrobe that make you feel frumpy and not your best in.

Post this on Style and Beauty, OP.
People on here will give good advice and suggestions, but you'll get a bit more of the feedback you want on there.

Me neither but have to give it the I don’t care attitude or I’ll start to cry haha then I’ll eat more Jaffa cakes.

Anything skater, in at the waist, out the Jaffa cake damaged area, hair done and nails done when Boris opens them up, head high and own the place. I’ve also had 2 c sections so I feel I’m beyond repair.
