To feel it’s Mumsnet or raw mince, but not both?

Every time I go to Mumsnet, for at least the past week, I’m assailed by the sight of a colour photo of a large pack of raw mince, in a Co-op advert, down the left hand side of the talk threads. I’m not absolutely vegetarian, but I really hate looking at raw meat and can’t see any way of getting rid of this. AIBU to stop mumsnetting, until this goes? On the right hand side, there’s an advert for men’s underpants, but that’s my fault, as I was searching online for some for DH’s birthday (he’s going to be so excited when he opens his presents!) And above, an ad for some exotic plants, which I might explore further. But I have never, ever, searched for raw meat or anything remotely similar. Any tips on how to get rid of it? And is anyone else suffering at the sight of inappropriate ads on Mumsnet?

I use the 'Brave' browser with ad-blockers, so I don't see any Mumsnet ads at all. It drove me mad before, though, especially with ads that moved or flashed. I think ad-blockers are the only way...

Aprilx · 12/02/2021 11:35

I don’t have any ads on the left side. On the right, I have some nice ads, currently Hello Fresh but there has also been a picture of a pretty playhouse and a waterfall.

Are you really that fragile?

BeastOfBODMAS · 12/02/2021 11:39

Can you google a load of vegetarian/vegan recipes and products in the hope of changing your targeted ad profile?

Bless you OP; that did make me giggle because for months I was plagued by simply revolting ads for “soft eat meals”. Made me sweat never to lose my teeth, anyway.....

NeedingCoffee · 12/02/2021 11:41

*swear!

Affor · 12/02/2021 12:02

Just press the 'X' and say you don't the content?

bloodywhitecat · 12/02/2021 12:04

Ad blocker all the way.

DNHandTNS · 12/02/2021 12:04

Haha, no ads here! Maybe you have talked about it a lot! I find that whatever is discussed here a lot appears in the ads.Grin It's google/Siri listening in.

Groovinpeanut · 12/02/2021 12:05

I'm beginning to see Hello Fresh boxes in my sleep. I think it's burnt onto my retinas 😁

tulippa · 12/02/2021 12:07

I agree the ads are annoying. The flashing ones of horrible shoes and jumpers do my head in. I would rather look at mince and I am vegan! If you press the x they just come back. Will look into an ad blocker.

DNHandTNS · 12/02/2021 12:18

Oh I have an ad blocker! That's probably why I'm not seeing ads LOL duh

Poshjock · 12/02/2021 12:25

I only view MN on Firefox with Adblockers because the scrolling, flashing adverts that weren't properly centred on my screen were doing my head in. MN must hate me!

ThatLibraryMiss · 12/02/2021 12:27

I use Easy AdBlocker on Chrome and see no ads.

DancingInTheGarden · 12/02/2021 13:18

Those ridiculous shoes and jumpers that flash and flash drive me crazy.

Clicking the cross does nothing. They close and then come back 5 seconds later. Saying hide and all the adchoice things does nothing either.

I have just installed AdBlocker to Fireflox and they are all gone! Amazing!
Thank you Flowers

Roadtohades · 12/02/2021 15:26

Thanks everyone - I'll try ad blocker. Funnily enough, the spell has worked and the mince has disappeared - for now, at any rate!

I googled after reading a thread on here about giant toy octopuses.
WEEKS of being plagued by all sorts of ads for rather scary toy octopuses, clinging with every tentacle.
I think I cleared my browsing history and cookies in the end to get rid of them.

LadyCatStark · 12/02/2021 15:59

I think seeing any advert over and over again is annoying. I was plagued by the Ann Summers ladies dancing about in their underwear for weeks! I also haven’t been searching for Ann Summers.

At least it’s not that disgusting ear wax advert 🤢.

BaubleBubble · 12/02/2021 16:52

At least the ads for the onesie with the bum-hole have gone. Or was that just me?

anniegun · 12/02/2021 16:53

mumsnet premium = no ads

NeverDropYourMoonCup · 12/02/2021 16:54

@anniegun

mumsnet premium = no ads
Adblock Plus = no ads and no unecessary expenditure.
DancingInTheGarden · 13/02/2021 17:10

@LadyCatStark that ear wax one is RANK
