Skin tag? Help!!

OhNo26 · 11/02/2021 16:38

I have a small skin tag under my chin. I looked online on how to remove it and tried to use the string method.

However, I didn't have any string so I used dental floss. I tied it round the tag twice and tried to pull it but it wouldn't come.

The floss is now stuck and I can't untie it because it's too tight.

What can I do???

Trim the ends and wait until the skin tag drops off with the floss.

Cabinfever10 · 11/02/2021 16:41

See a pharmacist or minor ailments

GiveMeStrength2day · 11/02/2021 16:42

Any small skin tags like that I tend to snip off with sharp nail scissors. Bleeds a bit so I press on a bit of kitchen roll then dab with a bit of Germolene. Just left with a little scab which drops off naturally.

I doubt this is conventional but it works for me!

justcannotwithyou · 11/02/2021 16:42

Wait, aren't you meant to tie it and then leave the string on until the skin tag dries up and falls off?!

I really don't know what to do though.. Do you need to go anywhere in the next few days?

Pinkblueberry · 11/02/2021 16:42

Aren’t you supposed to tie it and wait for it come lose? I thought the idea was to stop the blood flow - not to tie an yank it away. Sorry no advice on how to get it off for now.

purplebagladylovesgin · 11/02/2021 16:42

It doesn't drop off straight away. It takes 5-7 days.

Jesus, don't try this Shock
InkieNecro · 11/02/2021 16:43

Emla cream, TCP and snip it off with sterile scissors? Honestly you're meant to tie and leave it to shrivel and drop off.

steff13 · 11/02/2021 16:43

Yeah, wait a few days, it will fall off.

OhNo26 · 11/02/2021 16:46

Oh so it'll fall off soon? Even though the string is still attached? I have snipped the edges.

OP posts:
steff13 · 11/02/2021 16:47

The string cuts off its blood supply and it dies.

DinosaurDiana · 11/02/2021 16:48

Yes, just leave it. It will fall off in a couple of days.

ZoeTurtle · 11/02/2021 17:09

I do the same as 42GiveMeStrength2day. Dermatologists snip them off.

MissMarpleDarling · 11/02/2021 17:28

I had one and kept picking/twiddling/scratching at it and it finally come off yday. Hope it falls off soon!

crunchiebabe · 11/02/2021 17:30

Hallo ! I had one by nostril that looked like a bogey , I cut it off ! It bled a little , not much , and then dabbed with savlon

MissMarpleDarling · 11/02/2021 17:31

@givemestrength2day I like your thinking, I had a wart on my face and dr refused to remove it as it's close to my eye so I kept cutting it off with sharp scissors it would bleed alot then scab over and come back but after awhile it never come back and I've been wart free for about 10 years. I'd tell my kids off if they did that to their face now 😆

Netty909 · 11/02/2021 17:46

I think the string method can work but it can take quite a few days, It didn’t work well for me so I had them removed by electrolysis as it is so quick and painless.

Aworldofmyown · 11/02/2021 18:02

I have one under my arm towards my back. I'd snip it off if I could reach. Bloody DP won't do it 😡

Ask him to tie dental floss around it.

@OhNo26. Yes, you need to leave it a few days, it doesn't just immediately fall off! Don't worry if it goes black.

Almostlegible · 11/02/2021 21:52

Very fine fishing line is good as it’s not very visible.

gokartdillydilly · 11/02/2021 22:04

@Aworldofmyown

You can buy a gadget that snaps a teenie elastic band round the base of the tag, which eventually drops off. It's easier to apply to tricky places whilst also trying to hold your belly out of the way if your husband won't oblige with a bit of dental floss.

OP, leave in place til the little bugger drops off, like a lickle lamb's tail. You can always stick a plaster over it if it turns black

rawalpindithelabrador · 11/02/2021 22:11

I used bazuka on mine.

PyongyangKipperbang · 11/02/2021 22:14

Years ago I was told to tie thread around it and it would die and drop off. I did it too tight and cut it off. Hurt like shit for a few minutes but....never came back! Use floss and again and pull it tight and fast.

BakedBeeeen · 11/02/2021 22:27

If the floss is tight, the offending skin tag will start to dry up within a day or two. Then when it’s gone hard you can flick it off like a scab.Smile
If it’s not tied tightly you need to tie another bit round it tightly!

Whammyyammy · 11/02/2021 22:38

You can buy a freeze spray from boots, called cryotag, drop off after a week
