Snow clearing etiquette

LaLaBlahBlah · 11/02/2021 08:19

Some people in our street cleared the side street in front of them. This was kind but instead of piling the snow in piles at the side of the road they have piled it 5ft high and 3ft wide on my garden right up against my external wall. I've read that you shouldn't pile snow against external walls as it could lead to damp when the snow melts as there's no where for it to drain. One neighbour said I shouldn't worry as it's just snow failing understand that when snow melts it turns to water. Am I being unreasonable for being upset by this and now having to spend time moving the snow away?

They are CFs, OP!

YANBU, it's no different to someone picking up litter and then emptying the bag in your garden.

PickAChew · 11/02/2021 08:36

Tell them to pile it against their own wall, instead.

KrisAkabusi · 11/02/2021 08:43

Did they put the snow in your garden, or just up against the road side of your wall? If they out it in your garden, they're being CF. That said, it's unlikely to do any damage.

Yeah in my garden. I have a little side patch that goes brim the front of the house to the back. They have piled it on my grass against the wall when there was lots of space so so the same on the road and allow cars to pass

It shouldn’t be piled up against your wall

That made no sense! Sorry I should read before hitting send. It's in my grass in the side patch that goes from the front to the back of my house against my wall. There was ample space to pile it on the road to allow cars to pass

Super CFs! Get them to move it. Who would think that was ok?!

How easily could you dig and move it yourself and put it in your neighbours garden?

LaLaBlahBlah · 11/02/2021 10:47

I managed to clear it away and move it onto the road. Cars can still easily get past. A neighbour commented that I was being too sentimental and it's just snow
