Any ideas re how I can make it feel like it's actually my birthday? Feeling a bit gutted. Support bubble was going to cook me a meal and take toddler off my hands/run me a bath etc but snowed on to my drive. Alone with a mad, non sleeping toddler who is driving me insane. Can't even drink myself to sleep. Feeling shitty and down. How can I make a go of my birthday?

Can you have a takeaway and a movie night? Got any chocolate in the cupboards to munch.

radiateforme · 08/02/2021 20:52

I would feel absolutely awful ordering a takeaway in this weather...

Sledging? Eating all the treats in the house? Make an easy cake with the toddler then eat all of it? Dress up, borrow a crown/tiara/pudsey ears out of the toy box & declare yourself a princess for the day and insist toddler call you princess mummy! Happy Birthday!

Not an immediate solution, but can you postpone the celebration until you can do it? It doesn't help you right now but it would be something to look forward to.

flamingflamingos · 08/02/2021 20:55

Cook yourself your favourite meal and run your own bath.
Go for a walk, get a special coffee. I dunno, we're all in the same boat, it's less than ideal but honestly what else can you do? I'd deffo have a couple of drinks once the toddler is in bed. Happy birthday.

It's my big birthday coming up. Can't see family or go anywhere. So I'm binning it off and I'll celebrate it when I'm free!

CurlyhairedAssassin · 08/02/2021 20:58

Is this tomorrow? Late to be posting for ideas if it’s your birthday today (happy birthday if it is!). My advice is to just make the most of it. We don’t often get snow so play with your toddler in it, snow balls, snowballs, hot bath and hot chocolate etc after, and you’ll both remember it for many years to come.

Double Pooh bear unbirthday another week ?

Mypathtriedtokillme · 08/02/2021 21:04

I’m planning on making myself cupcakes then have coffee, eat my cupcake and read a new book while my preschooler quietly shoves cake in her maw.

FilthyforFirth · 08/02/2021 21:08

Just ignore it and treat it as another day. Pretend your bday is a day in summer instead and celebrate then. It's what I've done.

Because to be brutally honest, what else is there to do?

I had a big milestone birthday last year, my dad died the week before and I decided to celebrate this year instead, my birthday this year my daughter was in hospital after having surgery that was postponed from last year so I didn’t get to celebrate this year either, I’ve decided to celebrate on my half birthday in June instead!

Playnoh · 08/02/2021 21:19

Happy birthday. I’m sorry this year is also shit. I hope you enjoy yourself no matter what ends up happening

Bvop · 08/02/2021 22:01
