This news article has shocked me quite a bit:

As a democracy, I never thought the queen would try to change laws that were being drawn up by our democratically elected representatives but this has really made me question our notions of sovereignty and democracy.
I’m not naive, I expect a fair amount of horse trading in parliament but the royals having the influence and the gall to use a mechanism to override our proposed laws, especially in their favour, has really taken me by surprise.
Also, it’s curious that this doesn’t appear anywhere near the first few pages of the Telegraph, no mention in the Daily Mail and the BBC has opted for a covert boring “Queen shown legislation by convention, Buckingham Palace says” headline.
