What could this be?

Sorry this isn't the right board, but it gets the most traffic!

I have itchy gums and teeth! It doesn't hurt, but its constant and I have to keep pushing and biting down on my teeth to relieve the itch.

My lips are also a little irritable.

Nothing is swollen and I'm not on any medication.

I'm 3 weeks in to a keto diet, but I dont eat meat or eggs. Not sure if that's relevant, but wondering if I'm missing something in my diet.

Thanks in advance.

I don’t know, but check that you are getting enough vitamin B12 in your diet maybe?

I slipped into deficiency in as little time as 3 weeks - corners of eyes and mouth split, loose teeth, bumping into things, accident prone, bruising, slow reactions. Shocked at the severity and in such a short timespan.

Sorry if this is irrelevant and unhelpful though.

This happened to me before and it was because
I had suddenly become intolerant to certain fruits like banana, kiwi, peach and nuts. ConfusedIt would only ever be a reaction like itchy gums and slights swollen lips. Roof of my mouth would be vert itchy too.

I was eating these foods throughout the day, every day so the itch was constant and it took me a while to even notice. Could it be a food?

A quick google this came up first..

This early stage of gum disease is called gingivitis. A mild allergic reaction can cause an itchy mouth. If someone has hay fever, they may also suffer from oral allergy syndrome (OAS),which causes itchiness or swelling of the mouth, face, tongue, or throat after eating raw fruit or vegetables

Oh wow. Thank you both for advice.

Funny enough I've been eat kiwi and walnuts! Something pre 3 weeks ago I didnt eat.

Like you say, i have only just realised how bad its getting but it's been going on gradually for days now.

Crystalclair ah ok! Just cut the kiwi and nuts for a few days and see! I can still remember that itch!! Its drove me mad. Very hot or very cold drinks helped me when the itch was driving me mad.

FancySomeChips · 07/02/2021 00:11

Allergic reaction
I get this as part of my hayfever
It’s excruciating and lasts weeks/months

Also some wine does this to me

Crystalclair · 07/02/2021 00:12

Thanks for that info. Frustrating, as I cant get to a dentist due to covid!

devuskums · 07/02/2021 00:14

Could you ask for a telephone consultation with the dentist? Hope the itching stops soon

p2312 · 07/02/2021 00:52

Are you allergic to latex?

AndeanMountainCat · 07/02/2021 01:01

Have you been witnessing a lot of poor spelling and grammar lately?

That is well known for causing the teeth to itch.
