AIBU about Facebook group

I joined a Facebook group offering support and advice for people whose babies have reflux. It’s only been two days and I’m already struggling with the sheer volume of bad advice and incorrect information being thrown around. I was irritated in the first instance because I asked a question about omeprazole and was advised to stop breastfeeding (even though breastfeeding is going fine and generally breastfeeding helps with reflux). But the thing that has really stressed me out is the sheer volume of people advising that refluxy babies should be put to sleep on their front. A woman with a three week old was told this yesterday, and has now posted that she will give it a try.

Should I just leave the group since it’s not helpful to me, or do I stay and try to challenge this stupid and dangerous advice when I see it? I’ve already messaged the admins to try and find out what their policy on this is, but just got told they ‘don’t judge’ - even when the advice is incredibly dangerous.

I don’t really fancy getting into spats with Trent strangers on the reg, but it’s really bothering me that people are receiving this stupid and dangerous advice, and the general attitude seems to be ‘do what works for you hun’.

I would leave. You can't reason with stupid. It will do your head in.

KellyJonesLeatherTrousers · 05/02/2021 07:21

Just leave the group.

Put up a post on safe advice from a credible medical source and then leave.

LouiseTrees · 05/02/2021 08:11

Yep I agree. Post about safe advice then leave and join the can I breastfeed in it off topic group which you can ask about reflux in.

Leave, life is too short. Warn other people off the group!

Most Facebook parenting groups are full of total nonsense.
