My ds knows 80s stuff because I play it. It makes me smile if an 80s song comes on the radio and he sings along as happily as if it’s something current.

MarthaWashingtonsFeralTomcat · 29/01/2021 13:43

Mine know Saturday Night, Oops upside your head and Macarena from our cultural getaways... oh, sorry, from our trips to Haven Grin

redcandlelight · 29/01/2021 13:46

BabyMoonPie · 29/01/2021 13:46

Macarena is in Hotel Transylvania 3 so mine knows that. She's also a fan of "the pineapple song" (Agadoo)

TeenPlusTwenties · 29/01/2021 13:50

16yo would know:
macarena

dodobookends · 29/01/2021 13:55

My dc knows the dance to Thriller.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 29/01/2021 13:57

We have an ELC DVD of all these songs and dance moves on. Had it since they were toddlers.

Jayne35 · 29/01/2021 14:15

My DC (both in their twenties) know all the party dance songs from when we used to go to uk holiday camps, DD also loves most music genres and all decades. We listen to music a lot, always have and regularly went to pub gigs and festivals.

TrickorTreacle · 29/01/2021 15:52

Lambada was before my time but I still know it.

Scatman John and Macarena were mid-90s and was from my time. If we're specifically looking at around 25 years ago, then I would expect youngsters to know:

Spice Girls - Wannabee
Lightning Seeds - Three Lions
Reel 2 Real / Madagascar - I Live To Move It
Steps - Tragedy
Take That - How Deep Is Your Love
Backstreet Boys - Backstreet's Back
The Battle of Britpop (Blur vs Oasis)
Mariah Carey, most over-played Christmas song of all time!

Possibly a handful of Eurovision entries too such as Gina G.

redcandlelight · 31/01/2021 16:19

today has been herb alpert & tijuana brass and a bit of carlos santana.
