Birthday cards are terrible these days

They are all dick jokes, booze jokes, tit jokes. And not very funny ones either. Or ones with the recipient's photo / name on them. Or hobby ones that are crap because they are just a pic of a bike, or a set of golf clubs or a racing car.

Can anyone recommend any sites that sell clever, witty and stylish cards that aren't personalised and don't refer to dicks, booze, tits or crap hobby photos?

I like thortful. You do have to wade through some crap but there are some genuinely excellent cards there too.

I buy all mine of a handful of illustrators on Etsy.

DickVincent (www.etsy.com/uk/shop/DickVincent?ref=yr_purchases) and Studio Lowen (www.etsy.com/uk/shop/studiolowen?ref=yr_purchases) are my favourites, both in massively different styles though.

Or I get them from Ohhdeer and Paperchase if I can't find anything I like on Etsy.

I agree. On my dad's birthday last year it was impossible to find a card that wasn't embarrassingly mawkish, or you old bastard you'll be dead soon.
Given he actually was dying, neither was appropriate. I used to spend hours in card shops when I was a teenager. Maybe it's just not a thing any more.

When shops were open Waterstones had a good selection. Also Etsy.

If you can get to the supermarket (and combine it with your weekly shop of course) Sainsbury's have a great selection of birthday cards.
