Extremely anxious about the virus.

Earlier this morning, I had a parcel delivered. Delivery guy put parcel on step and stood back which is great.

The guy was actually someone I knew. From a distance I asked if he was alright etc, he said his son was isolating currently due to positive cases in school bubble (I think his child has sen so in school, like mine are) but didn’t have symptoms so the dad was at work which I know is the norm.

But he said that a lot of staff and pupils in his kids school had it and he would be very surprised if his son didn’t bug hasn’t got symptoms.

Now I’m panicking. My kids instantly picked up the parcels. I’ve took them away and dettoled the boxes and then took packaging off and disposed of it. washed and sanitised all our hands.

Please tell me I’m being silly for fretting over packaging?? It’s not like the guy or his son even have symptoms!

I get parcels all the time and know they could be touched by anyone as can my shopping!

Reassurance please 💗🌸

You'll be fine, go mad with the dettol

Ohcomeonitsrubbish · 28/01/2021 09:22

I'm a bit confused - sorry. Have you said that your DC are in school? If so, then surely that's where any risk could come from, rather than a single delivery.

I'm not dismissing your concerns at all, but please put it in perspective. You've said yourself that you get parcels "all the time". You can only do so much and it sounds like you are doing that.

I’ve already gone mad with dettol after I had someone in the hallway fixing our internet yesterday. 😭😭 I’m an anxious mess!

Yes of course but they are only in 3 days a week and there’s been absolutely no cases in there school so far!

I wouldn’t have thought much of it. It’s just the way he said that he reckons his son had it but no symptoms. I know the man has every right to be in work if his son doesn’t have symptoms! No hate on him at all. Just my own anxiety and the virus!

You've done everything you can to ensure you don't catch the virus off this delivery and seem not worried at all about the other risks you're taking with kids in school and workmen in the house so not sure why such a focus on this one interaction? I wouldn't be so worried personally though- we have likely all been exposed to this multiple times- You may already have had an asymptomatic case. Go do something busy, pref that uses your hands. That always helps me anxiety

Thank you. Kids are in school 3 days a week because they have sen in a school that has not a single case start the start of the pandemic!

Open reach was completely unavoidable as internet/phone was down which isn’t ideal in current times. Couldn’t get onto google classroom as no mobile internet where I live either so we were completely at a loss for a couple days! 😭

I'm not blaming you for taking risks OP or asking you to justify, just don't see why you're so focused on something so low risk by comparison. Go do something and try to stop thinking about it

Kindly, you’re being irrational, OP.

I’m probably the most irrational person could meet! Sucks! Wish I wasn’t!
