To expect placenta to move up after 34wks

I had rescan today due to low lying placenta at 20 weeks. It wasn't fully covering cervix just touching. Today they says it's only moved VERY slightly and currently not safe for natural delivery. So another scan now in 4 weeks time and they will make decision then. Consultant said still time for it to move. AIBU to think if it was going to move it would have done by now?!

Has anyone had this scenario at 34 weeks and went on to see it move by 38 weeks? Last time they told me it would most likely be moved up by today's scan and I'm wondering what are the chances of movement now based on actual real life experiences

My preference is NOT to have section but what will be will be.......

Same as a PP, with my first pregnancy it went right to the wire. I had an internal scan at 36.5 weeks and they finally decided that it had moved up far enough. Went on to have a natural delivery. Good luck OP!

Mine did too, bump grew a lot and changed shape between the 2 late scans, I was so relieved. I went from threat of c section to nothing to worry about in the wave of the sonographers probe... DD is now 6 months.
Good luck op!

@Seychelles98

Is this your first pregnancy or have you given birth via c-section before? My obstetrician said it's more common to have a low lying placenta / placenta previa after having a previous c-section. In his experience these type don't usually move after 30 weeks but the ones during 2st pregnancy or after a natural birth can still move up to very late in the pregnancy.

Mind didn't move after 30 weeks but I'd had a previous emergency c-section and I actually prefer to give birth that way anyway. In my opinion it's a lot safer and a much more controlled environment.

First pregnancy yes! Really hoping it moves 😬good to hear some positive stories as I was starting to think it'll surely not move this late!

Mine had moved at 32 weeks., my third pregnancy.

I had a csection with my first, semi emergency as they couldn’t risk me going into labour. No issues with second and with my third I had placenta previa which didn’t move up until 34 weeks, maybe 36? - I had to extra scans due to growth issues. I was very relieved as I went into labour at 37+4!

Yes, mine moved. It was a long time ago so don't remember exactly when. Oh the Joy's of being short.
