Perimenopause - where to get best advice

So my periods are so much lighter and lasting up to 2 weeks. Had ultrasounds and examination. Everything looks fine so dr thinks it may be peri menopause (I'm 42). Where can I find out decent info. I'm tired but not sleeping, started snoring as gained weight, having migraines. Just a bit blah about everything.

I had a friend recently diagnosed.

She had bloods which confirmed it eventually after a long process of waiting and being fobbed off. Hopefully that is not the case for you.

When looking into it for her, I found the NHS website had a lot of information (providing you're UK based obviously) and there are organisations that provide details of how to get diagnosed, support and to cope with the effects.

Mumsnet Menopause board and Menopause Matters website are useful.

Bloods cannot diagnose peri, as hormones fluctuate daily. I'm through meno at 45, it is grim.

Op, try menopause matters website. Some of the women on there are doctors who specialise in meno and peri. You can email a menopause specialist from there as well. Gp's are useless and so are gynaecologists. The last one I saw had to look up peri symptoms on his phone. It took him that long, I eventually recited them for him.

Menopause board here is also good. Read the threads on it. Good luck, it an be such a shit time.
