Just thought a bit of much need escapism might help us feel better

What were your favorite holidays and why?
And is there any other countries in the world you like to travel to and where? and what is it about these particular countries you find acctractive?

Mine was spending times with my family as a kid and teenager in Spain on packaged hols.
I like to travel to Australia ,to Russia as its a bit of mystery in certain aspects of what it is like, and to certain places in Middle East such as Morroco, Markesh, i live to visit night time weird and wonderful market place, plus see the Pyramids of course, and visit the Northern Lights of Norway too,

I was just doing a search and this zombie surfaced. It's a great idea for a thread though, don't you think?

I have three I can think of.

The first was Nerja after my A Levels. With my besties, we were all fluent in Spanish, and there was a perfect balance of cultural pursuits (we visited the famous underground caves, toured the Alhambra palace, saw some Civil War sites we had studied) and savouring our freedom to eat, drink and be merry after all our hard work. The villa we had rented was just gorgeous.

Second one was a weekend in Venice when we got engaged. EVERYTHING about that trip was perfect- you know when things just fall into place like the universe just wanted to support our happiness? There's too much for me to describe here though.

The third I can think of is when I'd been ill for a while and a classic se friend had a windfall she shared with me by paying for us to go to Barcelona. I wasn't really in a fit state to make the most of sightseeing, but we spent a day cruising the tour-bus routes, and thoroughly enjoyed a very luxurious room service meal, as well as the really beautiful spa, which was practically empty.

I think these are my favourites because there was a lot of love shared, as well as the enormous beauty of the destinations.

So, what are the special ones for you? With apologies to @thosetalesofunexpected for hijacking Grin.

Probably Turkey with my other half. I'd grown up with family members doing a cats bum face at the idea of going there so was a bit nervous but it was a brilliant place and I can't wait to go back.

Trans Siberian railway for the adventure.
More locally, we went to a place called Poo in Northern Spain and it was surprisingly beautiful!
Vietnam for the food.
Norway for the scenery.

Our first holiday with DD when she was 2.5. We went to Norfolk and I can see her so clearly playing on the beach day after day - gloriously content and lacking in self-consciousness Smile

She's 16 now and still rather wonderful. We want to take her to the States whilst she still wants to go on holiday with us! She's just bursting towards tomorrow (to borrow a line from Beth Nielsen Chapman) so it'll be interesting to see where she chooses to visit with her future lucky companions.

She sounds a credit to you, Warbler Smile.

Lol at the lovely Poo.
