How to chase things up without being annoying?

My managers never reply to things promise they will do it and never do. I asked them to book Saturday off for me as I had my wisdom teeth removed. They didn't So I took 2 sick days instead of just 1.
I've tried chasing it up this morning about 35 mins ago he replied asking what date it was to confirm I replied and he hasn't replied again.

I hate doing things like this! Do I chase it up again?

If you chased me after 35 minutes, I would not view it well.

I wouldn't expect a response for at least 2 days. I think you expect too much.

I told him on Thursday he didn't book it now I have contacted him again this morning. It's been a hour now no response again. I know he won't reply now.
