FUCKING AMAZON GROCERIES

lilyboleyn · 24/01/2021 18:50

Bastards! Cancelled my grocery order, didn’t tell me, only discovered now, when I’m snowed in and the shops are shut. And I am SO desperate for nappies. And the refund from them will take a good while to come through so I’m screwed anyway.

How can they make the decision to cancel at 2 and not tell me until I chase it up 4.5 hours later?!

WIBU to never ever use them again??

Did you not consider that the fact you're snowed in may mean they can't get to you?

I'm not sure it's fair to blame them for the weather.

Do you have any old towels you could repurpose as nappies for the moment?

lilyboleyn · 24/01/2021 18:53

I wasn’t snowed in when the delivery was cancelled, nor when it was due. It was cancelled because there weren’t enough substitutions of something stupid.

Yeah, I was thinking towels and begging on the local fb page...

Urgh, that's so annoying. Definitely ask on Facebook, I'm sure someone will come to your rescue.

Givemeabreak88 · 24/01/2021 18:57

Do you have deliveroo near you? I managed to get nappies on there when the same happened to me, but I’m guessing not if you are somewhere where all the shops are shut? Corner shop not open? alternatively any friends or family that could get some?

lilyboleyn · 24/01/2021 18:59

Village - no deliveroo and no corner shop, but there’s a coop in the morning.
Swimming nappy won’t work, obvs 😮

Depending on the area, Deliveroo will deliver from some local stores, like the co-op. Worth a check.

SeeYouInAnotherLife · 24/01/2021 19:00

X posted with you OP.

VinceNoirsShinyBoots · 24/01/2021 19:03

Cloth nappy mum here. Have you got any muslins? Two muslins folded together with a flannel doubled up inside for extra absorbency would work well. If DC has any wool or fleece trousers they’d probably provide a reasonable waterproof layer.

MissBaskinIfYoureNasty · 24/01/2021 19:06

Post on your local fb page. I wouldn't let a baby go without nappies if I could help. I'm sure someone will be able to help you.

Marmite27 · 24/01/2021 19:08

Do you have any nappies in changing bags? We always have some in our going out bags. May be worth a look?

Depends on the swim nappy... mio trunks and neoprene ones won't work but a poppered nappy might

Tbh I've seen a cloth mum use a bin bag over a terry in an emergency, whatever works 🤷‍♀️

How old is the child?

Lucieintheskye · 24/01/2021 19:18

Might sound mad but if you have any sanitary towels/maternity pads going spare you can use them inside the cloth nappy you're fashioning. I'm pro cloth nappies but they don't work for everyone and a pad will keep baby comfy.

Do you have anyone nearby-ish who could go to a late opening supermarket? or anyone nearby with babies that could have nappies? Even if they're the wrong size I'm sure you can fashion something to keep them on.

ListeningQuietly · 24/01/2021 19:22

First World problem writ large

Go to the shop

And learn to keep a backup stash of essentials

if you can afford Amazon prices rather than CostCo you can DEFINITELY afford to stockpile

Staffy1 · 24/01/2021 19:23

We've had this with nappy orders as well. Irritating.

Heyahun · 24/01/2021 19:28

Shit happens - especially with deliveries at the moment!! Would definitely always have a supply of reusable nappies then this can never happen again

Santaiscovidfree · 24/01/2021 19:36

Shit happens... Precisely why the op needs nappies!!

Go to the shop

Read the thread. Also, not everywhere has a CostCo.

ListeningQuietly · 24/01/2021 19:42

Because since 1st January EVERYBODY WHO CAN should hold a weeks stash of all essentials

we tried to warn you

iklboo · 24/01/2021 19:43

My 15 year old doesn't need nappies.

LemonadeSunshine · 24/01/2021 19:46

Running out of an essential with a LO is no fun and a bit panic making, so easy to happen when you're village based (I know from experience...)
Hand towel, tea towel, flannel, sanitary pads all good more absorbency, with something waterproof (carrier bag works well) over the top would see you through until tomorrow. You may need to use extra nappy cream to protect skin from a difference in absorption.
Good luck Flowers

Lucieintheskye · 24/01/2021 19:49

@ListeningQuietly Calm down luv xo

ListeningQuietly · 24/01/2021 19:55

I am perfectly calm
just trying to make people realise that overnight ordering
of most goods
is no longer an option
thanks Brexit
