Shielding and keeping my job

I saw a post on here where someone said that all those clinically extremely people who have people-focused jobs should just quit and find a different job.

It's been on my mind over the last few days. I'm an assistant headteacher in a primary school and CEV. I worked from home March to September, then was in school September til the November lockdown, and have been home since. If schools return but I am still told to shield, my class won't have a teacher present.

AIBU to want to keep my job if I can't physically be there? Should I be looking for a different kind of job? I've taught for nearly 20 years and have never wanted to do anything else.

Maybe it depends how you feel about a career change. You could retrain.

Do you love your job ?

Will you get a vaccination soon and then maybe you would be able to return ( I'm sorry I don't know how it works with ECV and vaccine)

I would imagine you will get the vaccine and be able to return to work. Why would you give up your post? There are people in this situation in lots of jobs. Currently there is plenty of work to be done from home working on remote learning, feedback and contacting parents and children. I am sure that if schools go back before you have the vaccine, you can work on the curriculum, lesson planning and even marking for your class and others.
