To want to get drunk

Seriously losing the will to live. Lockdown has really hit me this week, weather terrible, not sleeping, home schooling. Since last July I gave up drinking mid week and I can honestly say that in all that time I've stuck to it. But today all I want to do is light the fire, get my pj's on and have a big fat drink or 10.

Do it! I would if I could. Lockdown sucks, we need something to keep us sane and a nice bottle of red wine sounds just the ticket! 😁

mrstasty · 20/01/2021 15:39

I could easily down a bottle of wine right now. It's grey and wet and dark outside. Groundhog Day for the 300th time. Bored shitless.

contrmary · 20/01/2021 15:39

Just do it. Nothing wrong with the odd midweek drink or seven, just as long as you don't do it night after night, year after year.

Royalbloo · 20/01/2021 15:41

Yeah I think that's fine!

MrsBeltane · 20/01/2021 15:41

I'm doing dry January. It's proving to be very trying.

ScrapThatThen · 20/01/2021 15:41

Bunch of enablers on this thread HmmGrin. OP, if you stopped for a reason then you know what that reason was. Don't throw it out of the window.

Notimeforaname · 20/01/2021 15:42

Do it. Dooooo it. Grin
Seriously though..if alcohol doesn't cause any issues for you...go for it. A bit of Midweek madness

LadyHedgehog · 20/01/2021 15:43

I mean, 10 doesn't sound great, weeknight or weekend. If I did that I would feel rough and regret it the next day.

That said, after a post-interview job rejection, DP and I shared a bottle of sparkling wine and had a whisky each. As long as you won't feel you have 'fallen off the wagon' and start drinking every night I don't think it matters. You could 'borrow' a drinking day and not drink one weekend day if it will make you feel better.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 20/01/2021 15:43

I'd only say not to if, in the past, you had dependency issues or were a violent drunk.

If not - go for it!!

A few Saturday's ago I told dh that I planned an evening of cheese, wine, and a Sunday lie in followed by a McDonald's for lunch. He was on kid duty.

I miss nights out. It was the next best thing.

SpanishChard · 20/01/2021 15:44

I want to go out and get absolutely rip roaring drunk.

It's not something I do often in usual times, but it's been far too long and I am actually pining for it. At home on my own doesn't have the same appeal.

Iamblossom · 20/01/2021 15:45

I could drink a glass [bottle] of wine no problem now. Today has been really difficult, lockdown and the groundhogness of it all has suddenly hit and I am usually a very upbeat person. I am very bored, my kids are very bored, and I just got soaked to my underwear walking the dogs.

But if I drink from now onwards today, I will have a hangover and tomorrow will be even worse.

Which is why I will stick to my usual glass or two at 5pm.

Boring but true.

Squashpocket · 20/01/2021 15:45

Feeling the same, but couldn't begin to face homeschooling tomorrow with a massive hangover. I'll have to wait until Friday when my DH can get up at 6am with them, urgh.

JustAnotherUserinParadise · 20/01/2021 15:48

Ooh me too....
But I'm 36 wks pregnant! Been craving a cold glass of rose basically since conception - it never occurred to me that you could crave alcohol! Angry

CleverCatty · 20/01/2021 15:49

I'd love to have a couple of G&T's after work and might just have one. As got a bloody check in with work tomorrow morning, loads of work plus chat with boss.

Not a day I can wing it!

Definitely get drunk - here have some Wine!

You do know that you can have the odd alcoholic drink whilst pregnant (not loads obviously) and as long as you don't cane it etc you should be fine...
HaudMaDug · 20/01/2021 15:54

I'll join you Op.
I've been threatening to have drink since my bottle of Chase vodka arrived at Xmas time but I've never had a moment or inclination since then .
I think I deserve it today though as I've been wrestling for the last hour and a half to get a superking size mattress off my bed, down the stairs and dragged out to the garage all on my own before my new mattress arrives tomorrow. Managed without damaging the walls but gave myself a black eye when it pinged back at me on the corner of the stairs.
Go get that bottle open now and Slange var. 🥂

JustAnotherUserinParadise · 20/01/2021 16:01

@CleverCatty the current advice is no alcohol at all actually... I could have a tiny bit but don't want to open a whole bottle!
