Hello,
Soon I will be starting a new job working as a maternity assistant.
I was thinking about doing a blog all about the job from applying, interview, training and then the job itself.
So, AIBU to ask if anybody would actually read/follow something like this?!
I've been looking for a blog to read to prepare me for the job and there isn't really anything out there, hence why I'm thinking of doing one!
So, lovely mumsnetters, please let me know:
YABU - no one would read this
YANBU - I would definitely love to read your blog :-)

I didn’t know people still read blogs.

Go for it, if you can do it well and with sensitivity and full privacy to your colleagues and patients.
You’ll find that if your employers get wind of it, you will be asked to delete it.

If you are going to work for the NHS then it's a big no no.
If you are working for a private company,I would probably ask first .

I would check with your employers whether this is permitted, to start with. Patient confidentiality is a key concern. Discussion of patients, even in broad terms, is not allowed without their consent.

No, I wouldn't read.

If I'm honest, I would only want to read that type of blog if someone was really experienced in the role. You could have people turning to your blog for medical advice and it could be embarrassing or even life threatening if your information isn't correct.

Of course, everything would be kept confidential. It's more of the training and day to day tasks I'd blog rather than specific and personal occurrences.
It's a private sector so will ask employer.
Thanks for your replies.

I can imagine if it were sponsored by an employer, people would read it and it might be really useful. People do still read blogs, especially when they're carefully targeted to a particular audience. But you'd have to have got the job and got the ok from your bosses. And you might find they would be quite constraining of the content.
