To ask for help with hormones? (TMI)

Just wanting to know if anyone else has experienced these things as I can’t find any advice on google (and yes have drs booked for next week)

Been on the mini pill for 3 months and this last week my skin is horrific, I will attach a photo.

I’m debating the coil, because I can’t have any combined hormone contraceptive. Would love to know if the coil had this affect on anyone?

Also, (TMI sex warning) whenever we have sex, my vaginal fluid dries on his penis and it’s flaky, like it dries in flakes and brushes off into the bed, it’s like it’s shedding Sad

It’s so embarrassing, and I’m so aware of my face too.

Can anyone help or had these symptoms before too?

Thanks Sad

I have had perioral dermatitis in the past and it looked very similar.

@79abbot thank you, I didn’t know this was even a thing. How long did it take to go away if you don’t mind me asking? Sad

I haven't had your exact symptoms but when I was younger I was on different hormonal contraceptives and had side effects including cystic acne, vaginal dryness, migraines, complete lack of libido, severe mood swings and depression. Nothing I tried didn't result in a side effect I wasn't unhappy with, so in the end I decided to just put up with my periods (I initially started contraceptives because my periods were painful, heavy and irregular) and use condoms for contraception.

I haven't tried the coil but one of my old housemates had problems after she had one fitted. She said it was like she was constantly on her period, not heavy but bleeding nearly every day - this is supposed to calm down over time but hers didn't, and she put on quite a bit of weight which she attributed to the coil. I know overall she was unhappy with it but I think it's different for every woman. It's impossible to know how you will react before you try I think.

Unfortunately it didn't go away by itself. It was diagnosed by a dermatologist. I also had a rash around my nostrils and spots similar to yours on my chin. The dermatologist prescribed Tetralysal once daily for four weeks. During the last lockdown, I had another nasty flare up. I ordered the same antibiotics via an online pharmacy (I had to send in a photo) and again, the problem cleared up after about a month. I also get hormonal spots on my chin but these are very different to perioral dermatitis. In my case, these are isolated, large and painful cysts - usually just one or two at a time.

If I was you, I would buy a Canestest for Vaginal Infections - just to eliminate the possibility you have an infection. This may also help your GP, when you speak to them later this week.

@79abbot okay thank you, I’ll discuss the skin problems with my GP on Thursday. I did already do a canetest (god bless Amazon prime!) and no BV or Thrush so I’m stumped, will keep on researching or waiting for GP. Thank you.
