He was trying to look cool to the ladies and tripped over a bucket and fell in the pond. Then, he tried to look as though he’d meant to do that.

Grin sounds like my cat trying to style out a fall when he misjudges a gap

There are several men I'd happily watch do that and they'd STILL look hot.
Is he hot OP?

A lad I once knew was showing off on his moped riding past me and a group of girls, he was looking over to see if we were watching and ran into the back of a bus. I can't remember having laughed so hard since.

Tinkerbell456 · 16/01/2021 06:25

I guess he’s kinda hot in a feathery sort of way!

My old dog chased a squirrel years ago, the squirrel ran up a tree on the bank of a small river, the dog couldn't stop in time and promptly fell into the water. He got out, shook himself dry and gave me a "move-along-nothing-to-see-here" kind of a look. I swear I could hear that squirrel laughing though.

Tinkerbell456 · 16/01/2021 07:59

Nothing Mr Darcy about it, sadly. Just a slightly embarrassed goose, to judge from his reaction.

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 16/01/2021 08:08

I only came on this thread to try and work out what gander was a typo for.

Grin

Would love a photo!

I once idly watched a mid-teens lad setting up the queuing ropes for a vintage carousel ride. Short metal poles with red ropes in between. Also watching were a couple of mid-teen girls. Judging by his body language he'd obviously seen them as well.

As he got to the end of his task he decided to hurdle the last rope, presumably hoping to impress with his athleticism.

His run up went well. Unfortunately his casual leap was so casual he didn't quite get the height he needed and he went down in a noisy tangle of ropes and poles.

He did try to style it out with a shoulder roll and a "ta daaah" landing but the equipment wrapped around him and he ended up hogtied and bright red in the face.

It took him some time to untangle himself.

Who knows, if the girls had rushed to help him it might have been the start of a beautiful romance, unfortunately they were helpless with laughter, he was very aware they were and once he'd thrashed his way free he retired behind the carousel never to be seen again.

Me too... How did your lovely lady geese react, OP?
choppolata · 16/01/2021 08:46

My ganders do this too, they are hilarious! fluffs up and chunters

Oreservoir · 16/01/2021 09:23

Our cat did something similar. She was furious that ds had returned from university with a young cat.
Young cat jumped onto windowsill.
Old cat not to be outdone jumped onto keyboard as it was higher.
She then nonchalantly lifted her back paw to give it a wash, forgot about sloping lid and slid down clumsily onto the floor.
Gave us all an indignant look and left the room.

Keratinsmooth · 16/01/2021 09:58

I’m jealous that you have geese!! Do they let you cuddle them?

PinkPurpleOrangeBrownBlue · 16/01/2021 10:01

I came on here thinking that OP had misspelt gardener Grin

Blacktothepink · 16/01/2021 10:14

Another one who thought it was meant to be gardener.
Gander sounds like a cool dude, would have loved a to see that 😂

WitchesNest · 16/01/2021 11:47

I read this as “gardener” too Grin

Your gander sounds awesome, do you have a pic??

I love a Mumsnet gander story. Remember the woman in Australia with the hooligan geese?

Tinkerbell456 · 16/01/2021 12:44

They do come close. They do annoy elderly Weimeraner. Cuddles? No, sadly. Weis?Loads of cuddles. .p

That sounds exactly like one of ours. His favourite trick was to stand on the edge of a bucket of water, dip his head in then flap his wings madly. Once day he slipped and fell in head first. He made such a commotion, he tipped the bucket over and managed to both of his wings through the bucket handle then proceeded to parade around wearing the bucket on his back as if was all planned. The geese were highly unimpressed.

I am in Oz. Bit cold though!

I recall our dog trying to walk across the pond. VERY funny, he kind of styled it out then shot in the house dripping everywhere.

We filled it in eventually as the daft hound never learned. He really thought he could walk on water.
