Anybody have an opinion on this?

Netherlands is nothing to do with Covid 19 but a separate issue. Mark Rutte has not come across well recently.
Italy I understood was to do with Covid.
France changed Prime Minister a few months ago because of a perceived poor response to Covid.
Belgium possibly likewise.

Yet in the UK we persist with the worst Prime Minister of them all. One in eight of the positive Covid cases in the world yesterday was in the UK.

Agreed - the most incompetent PM ever!

supernanmam · 15/01/2021 20:21

I wasn’t really thinking any of it was to do with covid, Russia is because of the changes Putin is making which would enable him to stay in power longer. I just wondered why all at once though. Never known it before.

Could that be because we have done more tests than anyone else per head of the population?

LemonViolet · 15/01/2021 20:24

Really, I hadn’t heard about any of these - past few months head down just trying to keep everything going, and only newsflash headlines that have penetrated my world have been lockdown/Tier rule changes, daily death rates or Trumps gotta Trump stuff from USA.

What happened worth govts resigning due to Covid - public pressure that they were doing a shit job? Erm.....how do we get some of that?

Wildswim · 15/01/2021 20:28

In the Netherlands its due to fraud and corruption being uncovered, isn't it?

I hadn't heard about the others. Knew there's a lot of discontent in France though, especially with Macron.

1 in 8 is really high for that to be the reason. Rather than, you know, the UK having a lot of cases.

Ah... In Italy 3 ministers have resigned from what was already a very shaky coalition government.... It was already a weak government so Covid was probably the last straw.

In Russia the government has resigned to actually support Putin's bid to stay in power forever.... Sad lack of democracy there.
