Songs that make you feel old

Happily listening to songs from two decades ago with thinking about age - then Ladytron ,Seventeen came on. I remember listening to that at 16. I'm now 33. (There's a couple of other age-reference songs that throw me in the same was as I was either younger or on age - McFly song with the lyrics "she looked incredible, just turned 17" & Placebo's Special Needs).

@Skysblue do you remember the song “I’m horny” by Mousse T? I was quite young when it came out and loved the tune, I thought the lyric was I’m honey, and ran around singing it for months 😆 Only found out the real lyrics as an adult 😳

I remember growing up thinking that amazing things would happen to me when I was 17. After all, there are so many songs about it; it had to be a special point in life if that many people wanted to sing in its honour.

It was a sad day when I suddenly twigged that 17 has an extra syllable and just scans better

I am in my foties and work with 20 year olds so most songs I sing.

Terry Jacks Seasons in the Sun was 11 when that came out and anything by the Bay City Rollers.

For teenagers a pager must be akin to telegram and semaphore for my generation. (Mind you, pagers were never the big thing in the UK they were in the US).

Placebo's Special Needs

I remember see Placebo on TOTP playing Nancy Boy which was their breakthrough hit. I was already aware of them.

I was in 6th form and the morning after their performance on ToTP , the most homophobic and misogynistic 'lad' in the year plonked himself down and started describing how he'd fucking ride that bird from that band Place-bo he'd seen on TV last night.

When he'd finished recounting what he'd like to do with her I casually mentioned, 'oh you mean Brian from Placebo? The fact it was man and a man called Brian at that, had clearly fuelled last night's masturbatory fantasies rendered him speechless.

This was before I knew 'Ladytron' by Roxy Music. I'm now married to Bryan Ferry's body/face double.
