I would say PE

OP posts:
wellthatsunusual · 14/01/2021 19:30

PE.

TooTweeForMe · 14/01/2021 19:32

PE 100%, a lot of bullying from the teachers if you weren't sporty.

Also hated French and Home Economics.

AnneLovesGilbert · 14/01/2021 19:33

PE. PE teachers. Science, all of it. Maths. Bullies.

CaptainMyCaptain · 14/01/2021 19:33

1960s. It was freezing cold and I hated PE. I also hated maths until 4th year (Yr 10) when I had a brilliant teacher who understood why I couldn't get it and helped me get a decent O level.

jambeforeclottedcream · 14/01/2021 19:37

PE especially winter sports didn't mind rounders in the summer.
Wasn't that keen on French and English (depending on the teacher I had that year) either.

whiteroseredrose · 14/01/2021 19:37

PE and Art

Feelingconfused2020 · 14/01/2021 19:39

PE, doing repetitive boring stuff, science especially when I was younger and it was just labelling the parts of a plant year after year after year.

Feelingconfused2020 · 14/01/2021 19:39

Oh and when I had to read books they chose for me that were really dull.

Bythemillpond · 14/01/2021 19:40

Homework.

I didn’t mind the lessons I hated the hours of homework at night.

FinallyHere · 14/01/2021 19:41

Being away from home

Having to follow pointless rules.

Kanaloa · 14/01/2021 19:43

All of it basically. Especially maths and science because I had massive gaps in my knowledge and just couldn’t understand some of the concepts but teachers would frequently act like I was just lazy/not trying.

ChocolateSantaisthebestkind · 14/01/2021 19:44

Boarding and Classics....

SpudsandGravy · 14/01/2021 19:44

Amazed that so many people disliked PE! It was the highlight of my day :)

I disliked school being boring, and petty, unfair teachers. Most weren't like that, but it only takes one to a make things miserable when they are in charge.

I also particularly disliked the fact that the music teacher didn't actually teach our class singing but simply put on records instead. I loved singing and used to look forward to it all week.

And a couple of rather malignant nuns.

BackforGood · 14/01/2021 19:46

I liked everything.

Well, in an ideal world, it would have started later and let me have a lie in each day Wink

ChocolateSantaisthebestkind · 14/01/2021 19:46

My DC will be day pupils as a result. My DPs knew I hated it and made me carry on because 'that's what [maiden name'] do!'

babyguffingtonstrikesagain · 14/01/2021 19:46

The smell of powder paint.

Odile13 · 14/01/2021 19:46

I didn’t like being around people all day. I like to have alone time. I also found other children became increasingly mean once we got into secondary school. It was quite a hostile and stressful environment.

Ashhead24 · 14/01/2021 19:47

Assemblies. Being preached at in a completely one sided way. Used to come out absolutely seething. Even worse when it was my forms week to set out the chairs for everyone. Absolute waste of my life that put my right off anything religious.

Makinglists · 14/01/2021 19:47

Needlecraft in 1980s - hated it and was rubbish. We did 2 years of it and didn't learn anything useful (like sewing on buttons, making curtains, mending things). Complete waste of time especially as I was fairly academic. At least cookery gave me some vaguely useful skills - though in the intervening 35+ years I have never made flaky pastry from scratch again.

Raera · 14/01/2021 19:48

PE, physics and the horrible uniform

TheMandalorian · 14/01/2021 19:49

I liked PE. Didn't enjoy German. The teacher was incomprehensible and taught using humiliation techniques.
I mostly liked school being a reasonably bright academically minded who didn't need to try very hard. But I did need things explaining to me first. I can't learn German by a teacher speaking German at me and not translating it.
There was one girl who in hindsight tried to be a bully to me but a lot of it was water off a ducks back.

hansgrueber · 14/01/2021 19:53

Early 60s, PE, outside especially, the wind was whistling across the valley and the teacher was there in a sheepskin coat, hat and gloves telling us to run around and get warm!
TeenyTinyDustinHoffman · 14/01/2021 19:55

The uniform. Not the concept of uniforms, just the specific one we had which was ugly and bulky and you could never quite get the smell of sweat out of the jumpers.

Homework. Liked lessons, was a very good student in school but had a terrible homework record.

Holothane · 14/01/2021 19:57

I hated homework that was your evening gone,

hedgehogger1 · 14/01/2021 19:59

PE. I remember a report where a PE teacher said I had an attitude problem, when basically all my other teachers said I was too shy. I was doing about 10 hours of sport outside school every week. I was just shit at most of the school stuff - although I was on two sports teams
