My friend ( doesn't work) , we both have toddlers and we talked about how to entertain them during the day. She expressed how boring it is with everything closed then commented that's it's ok for me as I get a break ( when I have work)

For context I work from home call centre ( quite stressful ), 12.5 hour shift 7-1930. one 30 min break. My toddler goes to nursery while I work due to the nature of the calls - healthcare. I work 3 days.

I never class it as a break tbh as Im often quite stressed at work and sat in my home environment carrying the mental load of motherhood ( lighthearted ) I barely move to even go to toilet as it's so busy .

Is this a break?

I class a break as being away from responsibilities, or lesser responsibilities maybe a trip to the Cinema ( pre covid )

No of course not.

I can kind of see where she's coming from. I've often joked that going to work is a lot easier than keeping my DD entertained, she's 6 and is just so full on and never stops.
If I have no, or not may calls then working at my own pace on spreadsheets or powerpoints does seem like having a break! But then it doesn't sound like my job is anywhere near as stressful so yanbu.
