Small lump - should I bother GPs atm?

Found a small lump, about the size of a baked bean, on my hip...right hand side. It’s a little sore to touch. Should I bother GP/doctors at the moment given what’s going on CV wise? Or best to get it checked out? I don’t want to waste anyone’s time, but I do have two small children to consider if it’s anything nasty. Thanks

Yes. Our doctors would ring you and get you in for that.

EndemicPanda · 14/01/2021 14:24

Yes, you should definitely get that checked.

Enb76 · 14/01/2021 14:24

yes of course you should

Wynston · 14/01/2021 14:25

Our gp is asking us to post pics to them and having phone consultation.
If you would normally go then yes phone and talk to them.
Hope you are ok.

Yes, definitely consult your GP. As far as I’m aware its hospitals rather than Dr’s surgeries who are snowed under due to COVID.

Blackdog19 · 14/01/2021 14:26

Definitely.

Yutes · 14/01/2021 14:29

You’re not “bothering” your GP. they are there for things like this

borageforager · 14/01/2021 14:31

Ring your GP. They are probably triaging by phone and can decide whether they need to see you.

Inastatus my DH is a GP & at least where we are they are incredibly busy at the moment. Running vaccination programme, dealing with staff shortages, and a very distressing increase in mental health concerns and domestic abuse, apart from anything else. But that’s not to say anyone should hold off contacting their GP!

AnyTimeSoon · 14/01/2021 14:31

definitely get this checked out op. Hopefully it isn't anything serious.

Sooverthemill · 14/01/2021 14:32

Yes. It's not bothering them. This is their job and your life. Please contact your GP

Inastatus · 14/01/2021 14:34

@borageforager - yes, sorry, I wasn’t thinking of the wider knock-on effects of COVID.

Chanjer · 14/01/2021 14:43

It'll just likely be a sebaceous cyst. I had one in my back and when I eventually remembered to show it to a doctor I was berated for not going to the doctors sooner

It obviously turned out to be nothing dangerous but always worth getting checked

PurpleTurtle2520 · 14/01/2021 14:45

Thanks all

You wouldn't be bothering them. They are there for this type of thing. It is much better to contact them now when they can probably treat it themselves istead of waiting a few weeks and end up having to go to hospital because it has got worse.

unbotheredbutbewildered · 14/01/2021 15:08

Yes.

You're not bothering them - it's their job!
