“Recommend me”

Surely it’s just ‘recommend’ rather than ‘recommend me’?

As I’m can anyone recommend a film, as opposed to, can anyone recommend me a film

*in not I’m

Wouldn’t it follow the same logic as “lend”.

“Can you lend me a book” = “can you lend a book to me”

That term infuriates me. I have no idea when it started, or why people use it???
