I have heard you have to tell people when going on break and it gets recorded and monitored ?

I didn’t hate it. I worked in quite a small call centre and we didn’t get targeted on things like number of calls taken or maximum time on a call because the focus was on giving good service and avoiding people calling back because we didn’t take the time to do it properly in the first call.

We had to log breaks on our phones and go at scheduled times, but if calls ran over you just went when you got off the phone (still took your normal time for the break). “Comfort breaks” you could take whenever but still had to log it on the phone and if you regularly went over the allocated amount of time your manager would have a word (but exceptions made for medical issues), but one off going over wasn’t commented on. But if someone always went on comfort break as soon as there was a spike in calls, or five minutes before the end of their shift, it was noticed. Don’t know if management did anything about it though, because you’re on dodgy ground telling someone they can’t go to the loo when they need to.

If you think about it, you can’t have everyone going for breaks whenever they fancy because at certain times of day there would be too few people answering calls.
