Hi ladies, does anyone have any info on the copper coil? I've heard you have increased risk of BV? Has anyone has this? I know you can't get heavy bleeding but I don't generally have heavy periods though. I'm currently using the mini pill and just can't get on with it.Tia xx

Use to have the implant and wanted to move onto the coil so had copper could. I had irregular periods which were long but light with implant, with copper coil my periods were very heavy, to the point were I became anemic and had to have it changed for mirena coil

I had really light periods til the copper coil, and like the poster above I ended up poorly. Pouring blood for 10-11 days a month. Effective contraception in that regard and I was in fucking agony 😂

Mine's not been too bad. Very heavy on day 1-3 but then limps on in a has-it-finished-oh-feck-no-it-hasn't for a few more days.
I was put off the mirena because I wanted to avoid chemicals due to the mood based side effects but apparently the mirena is nowhere near the levels of the pill so wouldn't be opposed to trying it in the future

I've had two copper coils and found they made my periods very slightly heavier second day but zero effects apart from that. I did have some appalling flooding moments recently but that is down to perimenopause not the coil. If it works for you it is totally fit and forget contraception.
