You and me mum group

I am starting a 'You and me, mum group' re: domestic violence tomorrow over Zoom. I've not been given much information and I'm really nervous. It was meant to be face to face. This is the parent group but obviously the DC are at home so I'm a bit concerned about what will be discussed in front of them. Also about ignoring them for 2 hours and the knock on effect of not having the morning to complete the piles of homeschooling - although I'm sure many parents are going through the same. Can anyone give me of an idea what will be talked about? I really dislike video meetings and find it very hard to follow. I don't know what is happening to the children's group if that will be over Zoom too? Not sure how I'll get my DD to do it if so as she hates Zoom.

Hi, well done for signing up. It’s a great course.
It would be best not to have the children within earshot. If you need to supervise them closely you could wear earphone and type comments into the chat box.

The sessions are all about supporting you as a mum and some of the challenges that you and your children might be experiencing because of the previous abuse.

You can see a week by week of the topics here www.eani.org.uk/sites/default/files/2018-10/cpsss_you_and_me_mum_leaflet.pdf

I’d also recommend doing something nice and relaxing afterwards as it can be hard to remember difficult times. It is meant to help you feel equipped and empowered as a mum.

Good luck Smile

Thank you - very helpful. Not sure I can keep the DC away and out of earshot for 2 hours! Well, I suppose everyone will be in the same boat. I'll have to think what we can do afterwards although it will mean no home schooling - so stressful! have EUPD and a bit scared about getting triggered and having to deal with it alone.

The course looks good - although that says they don't work with children the one I'm doing has a children's group too.
