Panini makers - yes or no?

FlatteredRhubardFool · 12/01/2021 20:46

On my mission to spice up lunches I'm thinking of getting a panini maker that is also for toasties and waffles. Are they worth getting? Any recommendations please Smile

we have one for the microwave.
the teens love it and use it most days.

PurpleBirch · 12/01/2021 20:50

Absolutely yes! Toasted wraps are delicious in it too.

ghostyslovesheets · 12/01/2021 20:52

yes - we got one in Morrisons - £20 well spend - use it a lot - also does waffles and toasties

Doublechins · 12/01/2021 20:53

We have one. I bought it to make waffles, have never made a panini in it and mainly use it for toasties despite having another toastie machine

goose1964 · 12/01/2021 20:54

We have one and it's used 3 or 4 times a week

ouchmyfeet · 12/01/2021 20:59

Yes, do it! We use ours a lot, normal sandwiches are nice in it too, and wraps. I like those sandwich thins in it too

foxhat · 12/01/2021 21:03

We have a 3 in 1 sandwhich maker/ panini maker/ waffle maker and love all 3 parts of it.

evilharpy · 12/01/2021 21:04

We had one but ended up getting rid of it as it took up so much space.

The toastie maker gets used almost daily though and we also have a waffle maker. In hindsight we should have got one with interchangeable plates.

Skigal86 · 12/01/2021 21:05

We got one at the start of the first lock down, never used the panini plates, but lots of toasties and waffles consumed. Ours could be better, it was only a cheap one from b and m but couldn’t find the breville one I wanted in stock anywhere. I’m not 100% sure what the issue is, maybe the plates are too deep so needs lots of batter / sandwich to fill it and make contact with the plate so it cooks properly. My toddler loves the sweet potato waffles I make in it though!

Genderwitched · 12/01/2021 21:09

Yes, we love ours. My son probably uses it the most, to cook cheese bagels.

Binglebong · 12/01/2021 21:10

Go for it. Breville do one that is basically two flat plates and is sooo easy to clean - I love it!

AnnaSW1 · 12/01/2021 21:12

@redcandlelight what brand is yours?

Roseability18 · 12/01/2021 21:15

Got one with interchangeable plates for Christmas- love it! Waffles, panini and toasties all delicious.

OxanaVorontsova · 12/01/2021 21:15

We got a Breville one last year, love it!

Bearsbearsbears40 · 12/01/2021 21:18

Yes, I say go for it! We have a mid-range one we got as a wedding present over eight years ago and it’s still as good as new.

Santaiscovidfree · 12/01/2021 21:19

Asda have a great one on sale for £18 instead of £26!! Has a drip tray so you can use it for allsorts!!

Mumdiva99 · 12/01/2021 21:24

Yes. I bought a 3 in 1 from Robert Days. I bought it for toasted sandwiches.....and that is the only plate we don't use. Waffles are a treat (as there is so much melted butter in them....) and we have made back the price of the machine just by cooking those at home and not going out for an American breakfast a few times.
The panini plate is used to toast any bread Sandwich thing including wraps as someone else mentioned. The actual sandwich plate is too large for regular sliced bread...so isn't used.

redcandlelight · 12/01/2021 21:42
@redcandlelight what brand is yours?
it's this morphy richards one

MeOldBamboo · 12/01/2021 21:43

I bought the Tefal system with interchangeable plates. It does EVERYTHING! I love it!

notanothertakeaway · 12/01/2021 21:45

We have toasted sandwiches quite often. Waffles are a great treat from time to time. Sounds like a good gadget

Plussizejumpsuit · 12/01/2021 21:51

We have one. It's a George forman grill with removable plates. That's the key for cleaning! It is basically 2 griddle hot plates. We never use it for meat (I'm vegetarian) but you can use it for that too. We use it for toasted wraps, bagels and sandwiches several times a week. Definitely worth the money.

2020Won · 12/01/2021 21:54

I have the flat breville one. I use mine with baking paper and have never had to clean it. I love it!

FlatteredRhubardFool · 12/01/2021 22:07

Sounds like it's the thing to buy, thank you! We had one back in the 80s for toastie and used it a lot back then and in the 90s. The one I like the look of is a Salter one that's a 3 in 1 design. It's £31 so seems a good price to price for spicing up lunch times and dds can use it by themselves too or even better use it to make me something nice!

AnnaSW1 · 12/01/2021 22:16

@redcandlelight ah great thanks. I've just ordered it. My toddlers will be happy
