To go for a walk

DH is at work; I'm not working atm.

DH has ordered something which was due to be delivered last Thursday. It didn't come. Every weekday since then I have got up and dressed early (instead of having a lie in) in case it arrived, not showered during the day and not left the house. It's still not arrived. The delivery company just keep saying "it's out for delivery today."

According to the forecast, today is the only sunny day all week. I want to go for a walk. Sods Law it will turn up when I'm out and they will either not leave it or it will get nicked from the doorstep.

YABU: Stay indoors for as long as it takes to turn up
YANBU: It might never turn up. Get some fresh air for an hour.

Depends how important the thing is and whether it’s worth risking missing it. And tbh on the delivery company. I wouldn’t risk giving Hermes an excuse to fail to deliver, but Royal Mail I know I can go and collect from the sorting office easily enough.

Just go.

Remember to ask your MP when they come door knocking in 2024 to require parcel companies to have two hour slots, as you can be told via text or email.

Would depend on the value and what it is, but I tend to leave a note on the door asking them to leave the parcel and then remove the note. It’s worked several times ( and one driver texted me as I had left my phone number)
But in my case, it’s generally dog food or low value items.

Delivery company is UPS if that makes a difference.

Definitely go out for a walk. I've had this. Is this DHL?

I wasted four days once waiting in for an urgent and valuable delivery that was supposed to be delivered by them but didn't arrive despite being 'out for delivery' each day on the tracking app. I have vowed never again.

I'll arrange my day to be in for 1-2 hour slots but no more if I can help it. I'm currently waiting for something that's supposed to come between 13.10 and 14.10 and the law of sod here dictates that it won't arrive until after the work call I have booked for 2 pm starts.

Cross posted. Useless Parcel Service, not Drop it Hide it Lose it then.

Thankfully Hermes and Yodel are regulars here and are happy to leave stuff in the front garden (very quiet street, not visible from road due to slope, big hedge, patio furniture and CCTV, I'm happy to take the risk most of the time).

I went. It wasnt as nice as I'd imagined as it was incredibly muddy and slippery underfoot. Last time I went out it was frozen solid. Nevertheless the fresh air and a bit of winter sun has definitely done me good.

Just as an update, the item never arrived. The seller sent a replacement which was delivered (also UPS) in 24 hrs.
