First “scent” for 11yo boy

My dnephew turns 11 soon and he’s gone from “smelly, onesie wearing, I don’t want to wash at all” kid to Hype-wearing shower twice a day kid (can’t moan). He’ll be starting secondary in sept, has just started using product in his hair and has asked for some nice smelling spray stuff for when he goes out (currently just with family for gatherings etc)

Obviously I’m after something age appropriate (don’t want the poor lad drowning in Armani) etc... but equally the thought of Lynx Africa is a bit nauseating for an 11 yo.

Is it a bit soon to be getting him a spray?

Thoughts?

I got my son a Star Wars cologne

BilboBercow · 09/01/2021 20:37

Versace blue Jean's. Takes me back Grin

Next have some aimed at older boys. I got 10 yr old DS one last year (doesn’t look like his specific one is still available), and he really likes it.

Love a bit of blue jean's Grin

See if you can find lynx tempest op.

pinbinpin · 09/01/2021 20:43

Lynx, of course

Some of the blue ones are quite nice, my 11y old.has ice blue something.

Some are foul though.

Hankunamatata · 09/01/2021 20:52

cool water was all the rage years back

FoxyTheFox · 09/01/2021 20:52

Lynx, its a rite of passage. For all teen boys, an entire can of Lynx and hair so gelled its somehow crunchy and wet at the same time. For girls its a can of Impulse and frosted eyeshadow.

Note: advice may be based on life in the 90s.

QueenofLouisiana · 09/01/2021 20:53

I bought DS a selection from Primarni at that age. He could try them all out and decide what he liked. Based on that, we moved to (marginally) more expensive options. He’s now on Holister and Blue Water I think.

mamaduckbone · 09/01/2021 20:54

Definitely still Lynx. My 11yo likes the blue and purple ones (no idea of the names, sorry) whereas 15yo is all about the Lynx AfricaGrin

STAR WARS Limited Edition Eau de Parfum, Light 50 ml https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01LYP7J2Z/ref=cmswwrcppapifabcc_XFH-FbTFQVA0S

OrangePlumGrape · 09/01/2021 20:58

Mine started on Lynx and graduated to Hollister now one stinks of Gucci Guilty which is a bit heavy for his age and the other wears one of the red Lacoste ones which is a bit lighter.

Bunnybigears · 09/01/2021 21:00

B&M is your friend they usually have some Adidas branded stuff which is quite nice.

pinkstripeycat · 09/01/2021 21:21

My DS are mid teens and even now I’m still buying them mild smellies as men’s doesn’t smell quite right. They have dove gentle deodorant for pits and a nice mild scent from next. Next do some lovely men’s scents

CommanderBurnham · 09/01/2021 21:24

Zara boys have some nice ones

Spied · 09/01/2021 21:26

Ted Baker sprays in Boots are really nice.

Firstinlastout · 09/01/2021 21:27

Have you seen the Police ones?Really nice and not too strong and really cool choice of bottles as well.

Changedname81 · 09/01/2021 21:29

Some lovely ideas, thanks all Grin

Like the idea of police and Ted baker

Perhaps I can find a less headache-inducing Lynx also!

My boys love the Superdry or French Connection body sprays from Boots, however Lynx Africa is a must have for every teen/tween boy!

accidentalchickenkeeper · 09/01/2021 21:44

Persuaded my just turned 13 DS to buy cool water - he likes it.
He also wears the white Lacoste one.
