Need to return virgin media kit but shielding

DK123 · 08/01/2021 15:28

I'm in a difficult position where I've been asked to return the kit at the end of the contract or be charged.

I've explained to Virgin Media that I'm shielding and don't have anyone who can help me, but they're saying that unless the kit is returned, I'll be charged for it. I'm disabled and my car MOT has run out this week (wasn't able to get it done because I was told I shouldn't go out), so I can't get to a click and collect place.

What would you do in my situation? I don't know how I can get them to listen to me and hold off waiting for the kit back before charging me. I'm worried as I don't have the money spare to pay for it either.

These guys will collect and deliver your car for an MOT if that helps?

Or can you arrange a collection from home from something like Hermes?

SeasonFinale · 08/01/2021 15:30

You need to ask a friend or family member to come to collect it. They can message when outside. You put it on the doorstep and close the door. They pick it up. Or pay for a courier service to collect it and return it.

Royal mail will collect parcel's from your home. You can arrange it via the Royal Mail app

BruceAndNosh · 08/01/2021 15:41

Most areas have a community covid support volunteer group. Try Googling your local group and someone might collect it.

ButtWormHole · 08/01/2021 15:42

Hermes collect from your house too

Phlip · 08/01/2021 15:44

I am also shielding and used Hermes to collect a parcel.

DK123 · 08/01/2021 15:44

Thank you for the suggestions, I didn't know you could get parcels picked up

The Royal Mail thing is new.

They came to collect mine only this week. I had packaged it ready to send but was told they now collect them in person. I texted “collect” followed by my postcode to the number given in the instructions.

marydtf · 08/01/2021 16:16

Royal Mail will collect it for 72p (?) , new service that started just before Xmas.
Look on their website - think it's called click and collect.
(Or if you know your postie just ask them if they could help you out - most of us care about our customers and want to help if we can)

ilikefastcars · 08/01/2021 21:15

Don't use click mechanic. Use a local garage, and ask them to collect, then you know exactly who has your car.
Get the mot done as soon as you can, just in case you need the car.
Arrange a courier to collect from you.
Simples.

DK123 · 08/01/2021 23:42

@ilikefastcars thank you that's a good idea.

Thank you everyone for the suggestions, I didn't know until today that you could arrange for parcels to be collected from your home!
