I want to donate my eggs

I'm going to take a year to properly think about it but what do you think about this?

First of all is there a genuine need or is it more sperm that is needed?

Second of all I've been reading it is painful and can have some quite serious complications. Has anyone here done it and can share their experience? If you haven't done it, would you do it?

My reasoning is a pretty selfish one I guess 😂 I'd like to leave this world having left something behind, but I dont want to have or raise children myself. I'm on AncestryDNA in the hope of finding a lost relative... And I don't know how I feel about one day a potential child finding me.

I'm quite torn about that. On the one hand that's quite uncomfortable. On the other hand - why not?

Has anyone here got experience from the other side aka not the receiving end but the donating end?

Yes I donated my eggs . There’s a very high demand for them as few people donate . The hospital were so pleased to have a donor they treated me like a rockstar ! It’s a bit like Ivf in that you have to inject yourself for a few weeks (not painful at all) and then have an anaesthetic when the extract the eggs . I found it v worthwhile and fulfilling

P.s you need to be u35 so don’t wait too long

I wouldn’t do it personally for a couple of reasons but if it’s something you are comfortable with then go for it Smile

I know you didn’t want to hear from the receiving end but just a thank you for even thinking of this from someone who spent years trying to have a family with lots of fertility treatment to no avail and needed a donor egg (now pregnant finally and due in the summer). It’s an amazing thing to do. Perhaps speak to someone like Altrui about it all who will be able to guide you through the process and what it means - with no obligation.

I wouldn't do it unless it was to support a close friend or family member getting a donated egg as the health risks are high.

No advice regarding no need for eggs (but I’m sure there is!). However I’m having ivf and can confirm for me it was not painful. When I woke after egg collection I just had a few mild period cramps.
