Are anti vaxxers making lockdowns prolonged?

Seeing how anti vaxxers are campaigning so hard against lockdowns/face mask wearing and other removals of their ‘sovereignty’ and freedoms, is this making lockdowns longer and harder?

This is assuming that they are turning a percentage of so called sheeple to their cause meaning more are becoming rule breakers?

I'm not sure the groups you list are all the same people

But yes, delay to the rollout of vaccinating, particularly to the most vulnerable, and lack of diligence in basic precautions (distance, masks, handwashing) will also make things worse

Covid deniers and conspiracy theorists are definitely making lockdowns worse and making things last longer. Not just anti-vaxxers but mask-deniers too.

No, the mutation of the virus and it being a virus, has made lock down happen again.

Unless we closed our borders and wasn't so wishy washy, this was always going to happen.

The mask etc refusers probably add to the spread. But the anti vaccine lot, tend to be younger and won't be offered the vaccine for a long time. If the vaccine stopped transmission then they would be contributing to longer lock downs.

Lets face it, very few of us didn't move or see each other over Christmas and those with children sent them back to school for a day. So we need to stop pointing fingers.

Depends where you live and what school your children went to.

London, Essex and Kent were in tier 4 so it meant all the people myself and others would normally see, didn't.

The schools around me had an inset day on Monday so were closed.

Think you're talking about covid deniers there. Anti vaxxers aren't the same, I wont be having the vaccination but I've maintained lockdown since it started, have worn masks religiously and haven't been going about mixing just because the government said it was safe, because in my judgement it wasn't.

You could argue that it's all the people who do something just because the government said it's safe that have caused it. Turns out all that mixing that the government actually encouraged wasn't safe at all was it? Over and over again the government has said "oh yeah it's safe to go to such and such country" people have flocked there, then 10 days later holidaymakers are stranded there because it turns out it wasn't safe at all. "Eat out to help out"..."oh shit, close the restaurants"

The general population aren't even being offered the vaccine yet so what difference is it making by people not having it? The people causing the problems are those that are choosing to mix unnecessarily.

"London, Essex and Kent were in tier 4 so it meant all the people myself and others would normally see, didn't."

Well the London/Kent/Essex Mumsneters still mixed. Some were planning two weeks of mixing, so they stuck to the two household rule. There were numerous threads on it. Whenever posters questioned the out and about behaviour of their children's teachers they were told to myob.

Parties and illegal gathers were split up in those areas. London city centre was busy at NY. The bridges were rammed and the Police couldn't do anything about it because they were dealing with anti lock down protests at the same time. I'm sure there were school and hospital staff among those groups. Just before you went into tier 4 the pictures from London were showing business as usual, in regards to shopping. Some places around the country, including Wales had fun fairs and other attractions. Planes were landing. We all want to blame other people and ignore what viruses are capable of.
