Hi,

First time poster here so please be kind!

My DP and I are having a 'discussion' about what age children should be allowed to do stuff. Point in question this time is doing up seatbelts. DS is 6. I want him to be able to give it a go, then we can check it to make sure it's secure. DP wants to do it himself. He is a bit of a 'helicopter' parent whereas I am a bit more laid back. Suggestions please? Is 6 too young to be doing this? DP says it would take too longer - I tell him to leave earlier. What do you do?

No, let him do it and see what happens.
You will hear a ‘click’ if he does it right.

Well if he can do it, what’s the problem? If it’s clicked in and through the seat properly that’s fine. Just let him do it and check it’s ok.

My nine year old can’t do hers in our car because of how it’s situated, but can manage in her grandparents’ car.
