Posting for traffic/handhold - crazy fluctuating heart rate

Can anyone offer support/advice? Been waking up every 15 minutes or so since 4am with heart rate either 80+ or in the 40s. Diagnosed this weekend with a slightly leaky heart valve (further details currently unknown). Have suffered anxiety for decades, ramped up by the heart diagnosis. Could this just be anxiety causing the crazy fluctuations?

Doctor calling me back at 10/10.30 but I’m in sole charge of my young daughter with no support network nearby and I’m scared.

Anxiety can be responsible for a lot of things, and it's understandable that you're getting this specific symptom in a reaction to news about your heart.

It's good that you have a callback soon. Try to relax until then and take your mind off things. Tell the GP as much detail as you can :).

Is there anyone who can tentatively be 'on call' to help with childcare just in case? Having this to fall back on might help you to relax, if it is anxiety that's the problem.

Thank you @LindaEllen

I don’t know anyone at all here, I’ve just moved 100 miles away from my whole support network. Said hello to the neighbours a few times and my husband has a couple of older male friends about 30 mins away who I have met a few times. That’s it though.

Heart rate a bit more stable now. Praying it was just anxiety induced.
