So nearly 30 years ago my parents emigrated to France, everything was perfect until my mum started to develop dementia. My dad decided he was going to do everything he could to keep her at home which was going great until this year when he unfortunately caught Covid and passed away. now my mum is on her own in France with dementia and we need to get to her to take care of her but according to the rules we can’t travel? WHAT DO WE DO? my mum is unable to cope on her own and we don’t speak French or know anyone well enough is go to get her support.

I speak French. Happy to translate any emails if that is helpful. I think the British consulate might be a starting point.

and I am sorry for your loss

Surely in this case you'd be permitted to travel? Have you looked into it ? There are still flights running.

Sorry to hear about all of this, Good idea and helpful from prawn how are you getting information about your mum just now, did someone 'official' tell you about your dad? Sorry for the question, but did someone arrange his funeral, could they be helpful if so?

Where in France? I'm in France. PM me. There are lots of expat groups on FB. Lots of kind people here. One of uswill know what to do. The Embassy in Paris will also help.

Sorry for your loss OP and your situation.

If l’m not wrong I think under these circumstances you will be able to travel to your mum who is vulnerable and alone in another country. Flights are still going ahead between the UK and France. Have you looked into this?
