To just turn up

I have been on maternity leave since March. My leaving was a bit rushed as I was supposed to be there until June but due to being in a very customer facing role work didn't want to risk something happening to my baby.
No phone calls or emails from them at all
I tried calling several times and in the end I wrote to them in September asking if I can go back in mid January. Spoke to the team leader (after going in and refusing to leave until I saw someone), I gave him the letter and explained everything. He said that should be fine but he'd get the manager to call me. Still waiting.
My return date is two weeks away and I'm wondering if I should just turn up as no one ever answers the calls. It probably doesn't help that they've had 3 changes of manager since March.
I know they're really busy so I assume they want me to go back. Would it be reasonable to just turn up when I'm supposed to go back?

Email them?

Have you tried contacting HR directly? In writing too so that there is an email trail.

I’d ring ACAS for advice as something seems odd here. They could be just disorganised but that’s not good enough and something isn’t right. I’d also just turn up if you cannot get any contact before then.

Have you been in contact with HR?

My worry would be if HR haven’t seen your letter, then you won’t get paid on your return to work.

Yes simply call or email.

I don't have an email for the department. We used to have HR at the company but they moved it to a central office but perhaps that's my best bet.
They still have me on the staff list and my loyalty card works and everything. Apparently another new manager is starting this week so perhaps I'll give him a call and see if he answers my call

Well new manager does answer the phone. He doesn't know who I am, anything about my return and hasn't seen my letter!! He asked me to phone back tomorrow and speak to the team leader but seems a bit like passing the buck (as he is the manager). So I'll have to see what happens tomorrow.
Not happy though
Massive company making millions and can't even communicate with each other.

If you do reach the new manager, I would be informing him that you are returning from maternity leave next week. Don't ask whether you can and give him the option of putting you off
