To ask if anyone's tried the Joe Wicks Body Coach app?

I need to get into better condition following illness and lockdown. I've piled the weight on, done little activity and have been eating rubbish over Christmas.

With more severe lockdown coming I'll get worse and need something to tell me what to do without me having to search out exercise programmes/recipe plans etc. A virtual personal trainer really.

Is anyone using this and is it any good and worth the money? Or any other suggestions please?

Save your money. He’s a money making condescending prick, there are a million other better weight loss & fitness apps/programmes.

Pukkatea · 04/01/2021 18:57

I wouldn't want to give that creepy narcissistic idiot my money!

Fitnessblender.com do fitness and exercise plans far cheaper, and they are really good, much more diverse in their training styles and better planned out workouts. Creepy factor aside, I don't rate the Joe Wicks workouts at all.

Pukkatea · 04/01/2021 18:58

I meant fitness and eating plans!

Wow didn’t know people didn’t like him. I think he’s fine and use his workouts on YouTube but have downloaded the app and honestly wasn’t impressed, they say they tailor the diet to you but they didn’t really. Probably better just using his workouts and buying a recipe book from him or someone else focused on macros rather than general healthy eating.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 04/01/2021 19:04

We used his YouTube videos. Honestly, he isn't perfect, but as absolute non exercisers with, in my case hating moving, he just was easy to follow. Plus you can shout at the tv "Fuck off you fit twat! I can't do that with belly in a way. Twat" and it helps you release some anger.
In my opinion, these are good to start you and then move on. We like fitness blender now mixed with Wicks on some days.

sanityisamyth · 04/01/2021 19:05

Yeah I've got it. It's great.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 04/01/2021 19:05

He is bit of a marmite. People either hate him or love him😂 With me it depends on the anger levels on a day

Just finished his 90 day plan and moved over to the app as of today. There’s some functionality missing that I would like, and you can only use it on an iPhone/iPad at the moment, but otherwise it’s pretty good.

WhereamI88 · 04/01/2021 19:10

Yep I have his 90 day plan, have lost 4kgs (I didn't have much to lose, I'm a size 8), great food, great workouts and the facebook support group is brilliant. I started it in April, had a break in June/July because of summer, re-started in August and it was the best thing I did in 2020. Cured me of my binge eating and chocolate addiction, I needed the structure of a plan like this. No calorie counting or deciding what to do, it's all set up for you.

For a year. My 90 day plan was £50

How much is slimming world/weight watchers these days? Or Les Mills?

LulusMiniEgg · 04/01/2021 19:10

I’ve just started it and love how you can plan everything. The recipes are really tasty and even my husband commented on how good dinner tasted.
Hoping the fact I paid £69 for it means I’ll actually stick to it!

FrankRattlesnake · 04/01/2021 19:13

Started with Pe with Joe (before that though he was some Instagram star - so didn’t have a high opinion of him), then signed up to his 90 day plan. I’m restarting today because I broke a bone and couldn’t exercise.

My DH has purchased the app whilst I am restarting the 90 day plan. We did his boot camp work out today which was fab.

There are good recipes, some are a faff and it is expensive because everything is fresh. However there is lots that you can batch cook and it is all (IMO) tasty. My opinion of him has completely changed and I like his style and the workouts.

If you’re on the 90 day plan then there is a private online community that also offers support. The transformations are inspirational, and what you see on the adds are often people within the community.

I have around 3 stone to lose, lost 1.5 stone in about 6 weeks on cycle 1 and part of cycle 2.

You do need to get weights which is a huge issue at the moment but not until the second cycle on either the app or 90 day plan.

Oh and today for lunch we had egg bacon and cheese frittata and the portions were huge!

We like it and him but I know others don’t. I will happily pay full price for the app once I complete the 90 days plus grad plan.

lidoshuffle · 04/01/2021 19:13

Fitness Blender is $25 for a month's meal plan and $15 for each (and there are loads) 4 weeks exercise plan.

Seems a lot to me. I could just get off my lardy arse and look up meal plans and exercise videos I suppose but i was looking for inspiration. I do like @SchrodingersImmigrant suggestion of shouting, "Fuck off you fit twat! I can't do that with belly in a way. Twat" Grin

There’s a Grad one and an App one as well.

You can access loads of recipes and workouts on either fitness blender or Joe Wicks for free though.

Fitness blender is all balanced foods and portion control. Joe Wicks is low carb mostly, with carbier meals allowed after a workout.

The HIIT workouts are pretty similar for both but FB has more variety in terms of weight lifting workouts and Pilates (and I personally find them less irritating to watch).

I’d try some of the free content before committing to paying out £70.

CK007 · 12/03/2021 11:50

I don't know whether to sign up for the 90 day pdf or the app..... Anyone who did the plan and now is on the app. Which would you recommend for me?
